Voting Question: Ideas for first wedding anniversary?

Our first wedding anniversary is coming up next month. I am looking for ideas for a gift for my husband. I would like to stay with the traditional paper idea. We will also be in Disneyland that day so maybe somehow incorporate that in to it. We are going to write love letters to each other so something that can go with it. Any ideas would be great. more

Resolved Question: 2nd Anniversary Gift Ideas (Cotton)?

My husband and my second anniversary is coming up in two months and I am looking for some unique but traditional ideas. The traditional gift is cotton and I would like to stay with that, but I don't like the ideas of sheets, towels, bathrobes, clothes, etc. We just bought a new house but we don't need cotton accessories for our home. I am very creative and would like to make something but I'm drawing a blank as to where to start. Last year for our paper anniversary I used a wood burning tool to make him a picture frame with our names and lines from our vows and in the frame a made a collage of our vows and pictures from our wedding. I also made a book of all the memories we shared together in our first year of marriage. It included our honeymoon, valentines day celebration, mini trips we took throughout the year, etc. Any ideas you may have would help me greatly, thank you! more

Resolved Question: Where to buy the candles for the candle poem/basket given as a wedding gift?

I found the poem on here a few weeks ago and was very excited since I have a bridal shower this month and wanted to give this to my cousin as her gift. I found an answer that also gave a website of where to buy the candles as a set, instead of running around searching for the right colors and sizes. Below is the poem I want to use. I have seen a second poem that has the same idea but I dont like it as much and want to stick with this one. So if anyone knows where to buy these at in a set, I would greatly appreciate it! A Basket of Candles For [insert Bride's name] A basket of candles that come in a pair In all different colors, for you two to share The white ones burn first They are wrapped in white lace To celebrate your first married night In your new chosen place. The green pair is taller, and also much thinner Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner. The dark blue candles are for after your first fight Use them to burn while making up all night. Pink candles set the mood and pave the way For your first married Valentine’s Day. Now, when your first year of marriage is through The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two. Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might. By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby. And just when you thought you’d put these away Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day. Now just one more pair left - for the big 2 5 The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive. Congratulations [insert Bride and Groom's names] On the start of your forever May the two of you always be happy together And burn these candles Just the way we said But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed! more

Resolved Question: Has anyone got any ideas?

It's our first wedding anniversary next week and I'm completely stumped as to what to get. I've already got a card but would like to get something really special as a gift but I'm totally out of ideas. Please help. more

Resolved Question: I've got the traditional 1st anniversary gift of paper, now what?

In a week, my husband and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary. I decided to got with paper, the traditional gift, but it's a tough one. I bought some wonderful, thick, flower embroidered paper from Papyrus, but now I'm stuck. My original idea was to write a letter/poem on white paper, attach it to the fancier paper, and roll it (like a scroll), holding it in place with a silver claddagh ring, and place it in a suitable sized wooden box. Now I'm second guessing... we've been procrastinating getting an album of the past year (just hanging out with friends or out on the town) together. I could by a plain album and decorate that with the paper and get the photos printed off and tie a bow with the claddagh ring not too obviously lost in the bow. Which is nicer? Any other thoughts as how I can incorporate the ring/paper idea? more

Resolved Question: I need ideas for a gift to make for my husband for our anniversary?

His love language is Words of affirmation. AKA he likes to hear words of appreciation for the things he does. We never make gifts for each other and he is not a romantic person so I am not sure if he would even appreciate such a gift. Here is what I was thinking about doing: First off, this is an idea I came up with. I would first buy these wedding favor things from Michaels, see linky. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=j00469&categoryid=63 2 decorate the lid with decorative paper and number each one with a sticker. 1-however many. 3. Write on little pieces of paper:" I love you because......" and then fill in the blanks. for example: I love you because you take out the trash! 4. Put the boxes in a very large clear jar. 5. Write on the top or side, "I love you, let me count the ways.." 6. Put a poem or something in the jar too 7. I would continue to add to the jar throughout our lives This is going to take a lot of Money and Time. I like the idea, I just don't know where he would put it, if he would even like it, and I don't think it'd be easy to find the newest additions to the jar. Any suggestions on how to make this idea better, or ideas on other gifts to make? I want to make a gift that tells him exactly what I appreciate that he does. Any suggestions would be appreciated! 3 days ago - 1 day left to answer. Additional Details I do NOT want to buy something. If I did, I would take the easy way and just google it. If you are going to answer, answer without suggesting I buy some crap 3 days ago more

Resolved Question: What to do for our 10th anniversary?

My husband and I are approaching our 10th anniversary. Not of our wedding but of the day we met. It was love at first sight. I found out he's getting me a spa day and he got a free night's stay at a hotel (through work). I would really like to do something great for him. He's always been hard to buy for. He's the kind of guy you get a gift card or give money to. I did have an idea though and would like some input/ideas. I was thinking it would be nice to get a beautiful wooden box and fill it with the mementos of our relationship; a wedding invitation, little gifts from when we were dating, cards we've given each other, stuff like that. I was also thinking, since he wears a suit everyday for work, that I could get him a nice tie clip or bar. And I will probably be getting some special "sleepwear" for our night at the hotel together. I am just unsure. I sometimes feel weird about buying big things for him since he works and I am a SAHM. Of course I know it's our money but I still feel odd buying him extravagant things. So if anyone out there has ideas, comments, etc. I'd love to hear them.He can be VERY romantic. He saw something that I had been thinking of getting for him and told me he would rather have something meaningful and romantic rather than something he would get for himself. He is very much not the average joe type. more

Resolved Question: haha funny jokes that i came across?

Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really pissed. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE !!" The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Bob has been missing since Friday. also here is another one A local United Way office realized that the organization had never received a donation from the town's most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute. "Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give back to the community in some way?" The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?" Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbled, "Um ... no." The lawyer interrupts, "or that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?" The stricken United Way rep began to stammer out an apology, but was interrupted again. "or that my sister's husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer's voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?!" The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, said simply, "I had no idea..." On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again, "So if I don't give any money to them, why should I give any to you?" more

Resolved Question: Romantic Ideas for first wedding anniversary...suggestions welcome.?

So my wife and I are celebrating our first anniversary this weekend. My gram has been in and out of the hospital lately and I have been travelling for work, so we have not been seeing each other much lately. Here is my plan so far. I bought her a locket with two of our wedding pictures in it and also I made a coupon book for her of things I can do (just to stick with the traditional paper gift). Then I'm taking her out to the restaurant that I proposed to her at. I wanted to get a limo to take us to and from but just can't afford it. So I wanted to do someting a little different for our late night "celebration". It can't be too expensive. One idea I had was buying roses and putting roses and rose petals all over the bed and lighting some candles and playing some soft music. But does anyone else have any ideas? I want her to melt when she comes home after dinner and really want to have a loving passionate night. Not just the same old routine. This should be special. Thanks.Happy Anniversary to you TC! more

Resolved Question: What to write on first wedding anniversary gift?

My husband and I are HUGE movie fans. We're always renting and going out to see new releases together, so I figured getting him a Netflix subscription for our one year wedding anniversary would be an awesome idea! My only problem is, they only let you write up to 80 characters (including spaces and punctuation) on the gift certificate. I really want to say something about enjoying the moments we share together watching great movies and what-not... but I can't seem to minimize it down to 80 characters.... can someone help me with what to say? P.S. I realize I can write anything I want in a card and stick the certificate in there... but if he keeps the certificate, like he does everything else, I want it to be a nice memory with something cute on it! Thanks in advance :) more

Resolved Question: Good anniversary/graduation gift for husband?

***I asked this question first in marriage & divorce but got zero answers so I figured maybe someone over here can help me out.*** My husband is graduating from mortuary school this upcoming Saturday and then the following Tuesday is our 2 yr. wedding anniversary. Money is kind of tight right now so I think i'm just going to get him one nice gift for both but I honestly can't think of a thing. My family is getting him a watch for graduation and his mom is getting him a desk plaque. Does anyone got any good ideas for a special gift I can get him? more

Resolved Question: What to do for my husband for our first wedding anniversary? HELP?

Okay, so my first wedding anniversary is coming up next month. I want to make it really truly special but I am having trouble coming up with ideas. All my husband will tell me is that we are going to go out to dinner, so I won't be able to make a dinner. I plan on buying some nice lingerie to model for him, but I need some other ideas. It's hard for me to think of ideas since I don't really know what a man would like. I really want to get him a gift but other suggestions for things I could do are very welcome too. He already has a watch that he wears every day (the nicer ones will get broken because of his work environment). I only grew up with women around and I got married young and he's the only man I've ever been with. My husband is in the military and is very into macho military stuff and loves his Xbox and outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, etc. if that helps. He isn't really into sports very much. I asked this earlier but I didn't get very many good responses since I posted it really early in the morning. He told me to pick out a few pieces of jewelry that he knew I liked that he could select from to get me. But I know he is really trying hard to make it really special too. I can tell by how he acts and how he talks about it. more

Resolved Question: What was the best anniversary gift you ever received?

Resolved Question: Funny Jokes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, said simply, "I had no idea..." On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again, "So if I don't give any money to them, why should I give any to you?" Two zebras are talking and one asks the other, "Am I black with white stripes or white with black stripes?" The other replies, "Well I don't know. You should pray to God about that and ask him." So that night he did and God replied, "You are what you are." The next day he said to the other zebra, "I still don't understand what I am because God just said, You are what you are." The second zebra responds, "You must be white with black stripes or else God would have said, Yo is what yo is." Husband and wife are getting all aggressive in a game. The passion is heating up. But then the wife stops and says, "I don' t feel like it. I just want you to hold the ball." The husband says " WHAT???" The wife explains that he must not be in tune with her emotional needs as a woman. The husband realizes that nothing is going to happen today and he might as well deal with it. So the next day the husband takes her shopping at a big dept. store. He walks around and had her try on three very expensive outfits. And then tells his wife, We 'll take all three of them. Then goes over and gets matching shoes worth $200 each. And then goes to the jewelry Dept. and gets a set of diamond earrings. The wife is so excited (she thinks her husband has flipped out, but she does not care). She goes for the tennis bracelet. The husband says "but you don 't even play tennis, but OK if you like it then lets get it.' The wife is jumping up and down. So excited she cannot even believe what is going on. She says " I am ready to go, lets go to the cash register. " The husband says, " no no no, honey we're not going to buy all this stuff." The wife face goes blank. " No honey - I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while." Her face gets really red she is about to explode and then the husband says " You must not be in tune with my financial needs as a MAN!"Hey please give me a star Thanks enjoy more

Resolved Question: First Anniversary Gift for Husband?? HELP PLEASE!!!!?

My husband is going to get me an anniversary band to match my engagement ring and wedding band for our first anniversary. I want to get him something special too. I was thinking about getting him a nice ring with something sweet engraved on it. Is that a stupid gift or would he like it? (He wears a bracelet and necklace and his wedding band already so he seems to like jewellry). I know the first anniversary is paper, so I thought I would also make him an invitation for some fun later on, but I want to get him something special too. Resolved Question: Can I please get a man's opinion please?

I ask for a man's opinion because I know female's are more likely to agree with me on this idea. My one-year wedding anniversary is coming up and I wanted to get my husband a meaningful gift. He is not a jewelry type of guy and is very simple so I can't think of anything good enough to spend my money on him that he would really appreciate. We're the type that takes vacations for gifts for eachother because we find those more meaningful. So we are planning a weekend in Chicago and are going to be tourists for 2 days..eat some good food...etc. But as it is our first anniversary...I do want to get him something. We went on our honeymoon to Kauai Hawaii. While we were there we snorkeled constantly at as many beaches that we could. One day at Ke'e beach we snorkeled really far out right past the inner reef (by ourselves...this was not guided)...and before we knew it we were surrounded by 5-6 endangered green sea turtles that were feeding on the reef. Some were literally 1 foot away from us. It is Hawaii state law I believe that if you even get caught touching a turtle it is a $100,000.00 fine. Anyway, it was the thing we remember most about our trip...probably one of the most amazing things we ever saw...swimming with turtles in the wild. Anyway...I found that you can actually adopt a turtle and get a certificate...photo...and means to track them if you adopt one with a satellite tracking device. I don't think of it like adopting a star...because what does your money really help there. But with this I know the money is going to that particular cause because I'd pay directly to the wildlife company. Do you think this is gay or would be stupid in his eyes? He's a pretty sentimental guy...he keeps little notes I leave him and everything...what do you think. Should I keep looking? more

Voting Question: Ideas for a first wedding anniversary?

My husband and I will celebrate our first wedding anniversary in September. The traditional gift for the first year is paper. I'd like some ideas on what to get him. We're on a fairly tight budget (made even tighter by the fact that all our extra money is going toward me being the maid of honor in a friend's wedding!)... so we have almost no money. I had originally thought I'd get him tickets to something (tickets being made of paper) but I don't think there are any shows/concerts he would want to go to in September, and at this point it's too expensive. Other than a card, what paper gifts could I get him? I'd like it to be under $50 if possible. more

Resolved Question: Anniversary Gift Ideas?

Resolved Question: First anniversary coming up?

I like to plan ahead and am having a hard time coming up with ideas. I want to give my husband something special for our first anniversary. On our wedding day I gave him a computer mouse from Things Remembered and had engraved on it "God works in mysterious ways." It was very significant as we met on the internet and went through so many obstacles leading to our decision to marry. I don't want it to be just another present that he'll like. But something that will really touch him emotionally. As for the type of person he is (if this helps) he's really into electronics. Computers, phones, that sort of thing. But that's sort of dinky for an anniversary gift. I'm not sure what kind of budget I'll be on by July so I don't want to go to all out but I really want to do something special. Thanks for your suggestions. more

Resolved Question: What should I get my hubby for our first anniversary?

I guess the traditional gift is paper but we are not the most traditional people. We didn't have the typical church wedding, I got married in a pink dress, we were in a long distance relationship before we got married (he was in Iraq for a good part of the time and the other part he lived two states away), etc. I want to get him something special. Any ideas?I forgot to mention that he is not into jewelry. more

Resolved Question: I need ideas of what to get my boyfriend for our first anniversary?

I know we're not married or anything, but I'd like to get my amazing boyfriend something nice for our 1 year anniversary of dating. It's coming up in May and we're actually traveling to Florida to attend a wedding the weekend of our anniversary. I thought a nice gift will top off the weekend perfectly. He isn't the type to wear jewelry, and has tons of clothes. I got him cologne, basic "boy" gifts for the holidays. Any suggestions? Resolved Question: What is a good accessory to compliment a bottle of wine as a wedding gift?

A really close relative is getting married in one month, and I have most of the gift put together. I bought a wine chest to hold 6 bottles of wine. http://www.winestuff.com/cgi-bin/sh000013.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ewinestuff%2ecom%2facatalog%2f&WD=chest%20treasure&PN=Six_Bottle_Treasure_Island_Travel_Case%2ehtml%23aW600#aW600 And on each bottle I am making a tag, one for their 1st year anniversary, one for 2nd year ann. one for 5th, one for 10th, and one for first child (+1). However the chest holds 6 bottles and I only have 5. Should I add another bottle and include another tag? If so, what? Or, does anyone have any ideas of what could fill that last spot? It measures about 4 inches by 4 inches. The couple is planning on having children. We have known them for 23+ years (the groom anyway). He was raised with my husband. If for any reason they were unable to get pregnant, they would either (1) adopt or (2) get another dog, which if that's the case, they can use it then? I could just simply put "+1 Addition to the family"? more

Resolved Question: What should I get my husband for our first wedding anniversary?

I rather foolishly said that we should stick to tradition and get token gifts to do with 'paper' as this is the one year anniversary symbol in our wedding book. Does anyone have any ideas of personal presents I could give him? It doesn't have to be expensive. Thank you very much! more

Resolved Question: Wedding photo engraved onto tin...or any metal..no wood or marble, etc..only metal.?

Okay, so here is the deal, my 10th anniversary is coming up, and I came up with this amazing idea..but I can't seem to find anywhere that will do it..so I am hoping someone on here has had it done, or knows where it can be done. I want to take this one wedding photo of me and my husband from our wedding..its our favorite photo of us that day..and I want to have it engraved onto a sheet of tin (tin is the gift your suppose to give for the 10th anniversary....we want to keep to tradition) anyway...but I want it big..I want to put it over our couch in our sitting room (first room you see when you walk in our house..so the picture would be prominent when you walk in our house) and I mean big, money isn't too much of an object, if I can just find a place that can and will do it. Does anyone know of a place? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: I need gift ideas for my husband for our 11 year wedding anniversary.?

He is not a very romantic person- as in a candlelight dinner won't mean a thing to him. I sent him an email with links to things I'd like to receive, but I need an idea for him. Our budget is $200 each if that helps. To give ideas on the type of man he is, for our first anniversary I got him a cordless drill, one year I got him a BBQ grill, last year a new drill....Dull, I know! more

Resolved Question: Our first wedding anniversary. Men's opinions especially.?

My husband and I will be married one year in a few weeks. I was wondering if this would be considered something a man would enjoy as a gift. On our honeymoon (his choice of location btw) we ate breakfast at this fantastic restaurant that he still talks about fairly often it was so good. This restuarant has a gift shop where you can purchase the mixes for some of their signature items which we had at our meal. I was thinking of ordering all of them and recreating that breakfast for us the morning of our anniversary. I also plan to give him a fairly expensive new watch as well. Would this be something that you would enjoy or is it too sappy? Should I just give him the watch and have our wedding cake after dinner and be done with it. Any other ideas are welcome. Thanks!Haha J L. The above mentioned breakfast was so good I got pregnant not 3 hours afterward....resulting in the 2 month old that tends to hinder bathtub escapeds lol. I wouldn't trade it for the world though. We will still have our wedding champage and cake after a good supper...I just thought the breakfast would make the whole day special instead of just dinner. more
