Resolved Question: Opinions wanted please?

Sorry, I really wasn't sure what category to put this in? Ok, so our 8th wedding anniversary is coming up soon and my husband bought me a laptop for a gift! (YAY!) I was planning on buying him this video game that he REALLY wanted, but he inadvertently foiled my plans by renting the game and beating it... I'm now totally out of ideas! Whenever he wants something, he goes out and gets it before I even know he wanted it. I can buy him something standard, (which I plan on doing,) but I wanted to do something special too. So, I wanted opinions on weather it's cute or just cliche to gift wrap myself, (so to speak,) send the kid off to spend the night at her grandparents and let him have whatever he asks for? We don't have a lot of alone time... (that is a drastic understatement,) so I thought it might be nice, but from a guy's viewpoint is that just me being presumptuous? We've been married 8 years and I don't think I'm personally a great and wonderful gift to give anyone, but like I said, I'm totally out of ideas. So what does the yahoo community think?I meant whether, not weather, lol, I hate that! Thanks for all the suggestions and opinions! more

Voting Question: What to get husband for second wedding anniversary?

Our 2 year wedding anniversary is coming up, and I'm not sure what to do... I know that "cotton" is the gift topic, but I don't like that lol. Things would be different if I wasn't 8 months pregnant (so dressing up and naughty type things aren't exactly my cup of tea right now lol). Anyone have any good ideas?? more

Resolved Question: I have been in a verbally abused relationship for 8 years now?

He's manipulative, intimidating, controlling in all ways, including my where abouts and money. He puts me down by telling me no one else wants me and he has 10 women lined up that want him. He's yelled at me in front of his children, put holes in the walls and broke thing that were precious to me. Today, I've turned into someone I don't even know anymore. I am always angry and his presence disturbs me. I'm clueless on why I would even feel anymore love, but I do and I pray for the love to leave me. Every holiday as well as our anniversaries have always been nothing, no card, I could careless about gifts, but an acknowledgment would be nice. I feel like I have turned into this horrible hateful person, deep down it is the pain inside of me from the verbal and emotional abuse. Tonight, he almost hit me, because for the first time I stood up and didn't want to take it anymore. He was shaking with his fists clinched and his face red. It was our anniversary a couple of days ago and as usual, not acknowledged. He also punishes me by not wearing his wedding ring when he's mad at me. When I cry, he laughs at me and says boo hoo. I'm lost, please advise. more

Resolved Question: What is a good gift for a vow renewal celebration?

My parents weren't married by a priest the first time around so, for their 25th wedding anniversary, they are going to renew them in the Catholic church. The ceremony is next weekend, so I can't do anything too crazy... but I was trying to think of some special way to honor their celebration. My brother and I will be witnesses and there will only be about 8 people at the ceremony. Is there a gift we could all go in on? I am looking for something more than a cake... more

Resolved Question: 8th Wedding anniversary gifts and meanings?

Resolved Question: Sizing Platinum wedding bands?

So I've found the wedding ring I'm going to buy, http://www.bluenile.ca/product_details.jsp?oid=4959&pid=AB15501608&ring_size=8 Part of the reason I'm choosing it is because I want something that has potential to be a set in the future, and my fiance and I are thinking maybe I'll get the matching engagement ring for an anniversary gift a few years down the road. http://www.bluenile.ca/diamond-engagement-ring-setting-platinum_3480 The problem that I see is that my finger is an 8, and the wedding ring comes in an 8. The engagement ring comes in an 7.5 only. Can these rings be sized after the fact? I've heard that platinum can't be sized at all. What's the case with these two?clarification** Blue nile makes them up to size 7.5, doesn't make sense that the matching wedding band goes as high as 8.5 at least... more

Resolved Question: What is your 1 year old's favorite toy?

My husband and I will be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary on the 8th...tomorrow. I've had his gift for some time, but we want to give gifts to the kids as well. I'm thinking of getting our daughter roller skates...she's been wanting them for months now...but I don't know what to get our 12 month old son. Suggestions? What's your 1 year old's favorite toy? more

Resolved Question: Ready for a good laugh...?

Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really ticked. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE !!" The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Bob has been missing since Friday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you hear about the blonde that... Couldn't learn to water ski because she couldn't find a lake with a slope. Got excited because she finished a jigsaw puzzle in 6 months and the box said "2 to 4 years" Couldn't call 911 because there was no 11 on any phone button. When asked what the capital of California was; answered "C". Baked a turkey for 3 days because the instructions said 1 hour per pound and she weighed 125. After losing in a breaststroke swimming competition, complained that the other swimmers were using their arms. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10 things in golf that sound dirty 1. Look at the size of his putter. 2. Oh, dang, my shaft's all bent. 3. You really wacked the hell out of that sucker. 4. After 18 holes I can barely walk. 5. My hands are so sweaty I can't get a good grip. 6. Lift your head and spread your legs. 7. You have a nice stroke, but your follow through leaves a lot to be desired. 8. Just turn your back and drop it. 9. Hold up. I've got to wash my balls. 10. Damn, I missed the hole again. Hope you like 'em. :D more

Resolved Question: Why would man men want to get married these days what is the benefit ?

Hi here is the question Why Would a Single Strait sexually normal man/men want to get married at all? These days there are way more cost then benefits for men to get married? 1)Jewelry is expensive A) engagements B) Wedding C) Holladay’s New Year, Christmas, Every Anniversary, Mothers day while child is still not smart enough to make a gift 2)Wedding cost some over 100K and that’s want women want so they will remember the wedding for the rest of their life ! 3):Trips / Tourism After Wedding, and Probably at least once every year for the whole family, Counting Air fair, Sleeping in Motel / Hotels , Restaurants 4)Once your married Your also responsible for your wife’s finance problems College Cost that has not been paid off, Credit Cards debt, and Your Credit Score is autumnally impacted by her credit score , as hers is impacted / effected by yours score BECAUSE YOUR MARRIED !!! 5)Separations : These days it is very conman for people to separate temporarily instead of arguing or solving problems. Which is smart and dome at the same time! By the way during all the time your separated your partner could be cheating on you !!! 6)Clothing Cost : I admit living as a woman is difficult and costly but once any guy gets married, his clothing cost will probably triple that is 3 times more then you spend when you were single. This does not count cost of any child dippers, and clothes that sizes and style will be changing every 6 months . 7)Health Care insurance service , Co-pay is Sky rocketing !!! these days unless Obama solves the national healthcare problem! 8)EXTRAS : this includes Make-up, Laundry, Auto, Auto Insurance, Additional services like SPA / Fitness, Restaurants, shopping in malls and online, Additional Cell phone lines, Text message, and other similar cost. 9)AND EVENTUALLY there is the College cost for each student, whether a responsible parent puts 4% of each pay-check to a Saving account for each child’s long term education, or Barrows money form bank when the time comes, to give each child the opportunity to get Bachelors Degree or Masters 10)Now if anyone thinks sex is the main reason to get into long term relationship, I think that is one expensive sex comparing what all the cost you have to go through, and masturbating can be each cheap way to solve the problem, and buying hookers would be even cheaper make life so much easier ! 11)There is no guarantee that wife will stay will you in long term, look over 50% USA population gets divorced at least once in the live time, and if child has divorced parents their probability of getting divorced is 7/10 ; so future generations will only have higher % of families getting divorced ! 12)Long term expectation: If people are likely going to get divorced, then you can not rely or expect 100% confidence that you Partner will stay and support you until, no matter even if you get sick until you die. Like said during marriage ceremony. NOW TELL ME THE BENEFITS, WHY exactly SHOULD any MEN MAN Be looking for long term series Relationship after reading all the above? more

Resolved Question: BridalMania: Do young brides want a real marriage or just a Private Prom type wedding & the gifts?

Most marriages for people under 25 years of age, end in divorce before they reach their 5th Anniversary. So what's the deal? Do these girls (and guys) actually want to be married to these people until death do they part, or are do they just want to feel like the Prom Queen (or King) for one day, crown and all? Have they given any thought to waking up to his dirty socks 35 years from now and the very real life they will live complete with piles of bills to pay, dealing with in-laws, and baby puke at 4am when you have to be at work at 8? What do you think and please tell us your approximate age and whether you are ( or were) married at a young age. more

Resolved Question: Wedding Reception Question?

My now husband and I got married August of last year (08). We didn't have a big wedding, aabsolutely nothing fancy. We just did a Vegas wedding, got married in jeans and flip flops. We're fastly approaching our 1 year anniversary and both of our family have been hounding us non stop to have a reception. In my opinion, i think we missed the time frame, since its been over 8 months. Finally we gave in and are now planning a reception. My questions are: what kind of invitations do we sent out?? What do we wear?? We are re-newing our vows, so do we have a bridal party?? I'm so confused!! The whole reason we didn'thave a wedding and reception was because of money. We are now more financially stable where we can afford a small reception. Also, do we register for gifts?? Thanks for any and all help!!We wanted to have a reception, I just didnt know if it was stupid since its kinda late.. more

Resolved Question: Do you think a "happy wedding anniversary" cross is weird?

I wandered into a catholic "christan supplies" shop today, it was odd. The first thing i saw was an ornate sliver cross (about 8" high) with something like "our anniversary" written in the middle. In amongst other wedding anniversary gifts. This seems like a weird juxtaposition to me. Crosses seem kind of solemn rather than loving? Like graves, execution, martyrdom, sin and redemption. There was also a 2-meter-long string of glow-in-the-dark rosary beads, but that was just plain tacky rather than confusing. more

Resolved Question: Good ideas for 4 year wedding anniversary gift and what to do?

So my husband and I are coming up on our 4 year anniversary. Weve been together for 8 married for 4. Weve been separated for the last 4 months and are working things out. Hes moving back home and I just want us to do something really special. I just want to show him how much I love him. Any fun personal ideas will be great! :) more

Resolved Question: Would it be okay for me to have a large 1 year anniversary party since we weren't able to have a reception?

We were married July 8th 2008, on a beach in Florida. Just him and I. We couldn't afford to have a wedding reception when we got back, so we just always assumed we'd be able to have a large 1st year wedding anniversary party. Now I'm wondering whether or not this will be a faux pas. We aren't expecting gifts or anything like that. We just wanted to celebrate our marriage with everyone since no one was at our wedding in Florida. And if so, would it be appropriate to have a theme for our party? Like a masquerade ball or something? more

Resolved Question: HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Dear Friends, After 8 long months of Trying to Conceive, I finally got my BFP moments ago. AF was supposed to arrive on 19Dec 08. I started feeling abdominal cramps a week before AF was supposed to arrive and it was worse on the 18th of Dec, a day before AF. I saw a stain in my Panties on the 18th and was about to cry when i decided to check again and noticed it was dark brown. So i got my hopes up and started praying because i knew it was implantation bleeding. I didn't sleep that night and got up frequently to check if I had started bleeding. 2 days passed and there was still no sign of AF but the cramps was becoming unbearable. I did 4 HPTs and they all came back negative but didn't loose hope even though i felt no symptom. I went to the Lab early this morning and got the best New Year Present ever. The amazing thing is I sensed i was preganant 3 days after my 1st wedding anniversary. What a perfect gift from God. Its a 3-in-1 gift { Anniversary, Christmas and New Year}. Good luck to you all and hope you get your BFPs soon. PS. I used Pre-seed for the 1st time twice this cycle. more

Resolved Question: How to fall in love with my husband all over again?

My husband and i are married for 6 years now, he is 34 and i an 26 and we have 2 beautiful boys. Just before the marriage he was hospitalized for food poisoning. But the hospital diagnosed him with heart problem that was because the nurse put the ECG attachment in the wrong place. Our marriage was postponed and we got married a month later. In the initial days of marriage we were so much in love, my heart used to miss a beat up on his one wink, I used to be very happy to see him come home from work and stuffs like that. He started showing signs of his problems in the early days of marriage, initially we decided go to Paris for our honeymoon and my father said he would pay for the tickets for us as a wedding present , but my husband said no and he said we would go with his money but that never happened, he dint bother to buy me a present on my birthday, 1st anniversary and valentines day (all in the same month) and when I spoke to him about that he said he dint know how to buy a gift . we stay away from our home country and when we go for vacations he takes lots of gifts for his parents and other relatives, then I don’t know y he is hesitating to buy me anything. (I don’t have a job). He gives me money and asks me to buy things for myself, but just once I want to receive a gift from him. During the 2nd month of marriage I became pregnant with my 1st born, after the delivery and 8 weeks when I returned to him he showed no interest in me. We used to fight all the time, always about sex those days I was very frustrated and when ask him a lot of time we used to make love once or twice a month. But I always wanted him to go 1st, when I talk to my friends they say their husbands are back of them every day , I wished at least once it would be that way for me, eventually I stopped asking because I felt like a whore asking him every time. But there was no change in him, and then a year later i started taking medicine for depression, before my illness I used to beg him to have sex with me, most of the nights I cry myself to sleep. one day I spoke to him and he told me it is because he had anxiety problem and now he is ok But while I was on treatment, I don’t know if it is out of pity, he used to have sex with me then I got pregnant with my 2nd son and the same thing was repeated after the delivery. But now I don’t have any feelings for him, day by day I feel emptier inside. When I see him I want to pick fight maybe its because I want his attention, even if we have sex I don’t have any feelings for him, I do it just for the sake of it. There is a huge gap between us I don’t know, I literally hate him, our days are filled with sighs, now I see some change in him, I don’t know if its love, because for days together we don’t even kiss. somewhere in my mind I want to love him unconditionally , i want our relation to be like before, I try but I cant , when I try, I feel I am pretending . I am sure I don’t want to be away from him. I want to be with him for my kids. PLS HELP more

Resolved Question: Is this a situation in which you would file legal separation?

My friend has been married 8 yrs. I believe the wedding happened in the first place because of pregnancy. They were married at a court house and she always hoped of having her big wedding later on. They have a daughter and son ages 7 & 6 now. She is outgoing, warm and friendly. Her husband works outside the home, but it anti-social, quiet, shy and doesn't make friends. He doesn't want anyone to come over and if she invites people over anyway (unless it's his family), he objects and pouts. They never go out, he never remembers anniversaries, birthdays, buys her Christmas gifts or anything like that. Once he felt "bad" he "forgot" and told her she could go "Buy something" for herself. I don't think it's intentional that he's this rude. He just isn't into holidays or gifts, but she IS and it hurts her feelings every year. He is a hermit, he hates her family, her friends, won't participate in life. His family is cruel to her and he allows it. He refuses counseling. Would you stay???She can't "convince" him to go to counseling - he refuses. It's not up to her to drag him there. If it isn't worth it to him to save his marriage - I think she should seize the opportunity and get out.He HATES her family - he will just avoid seeing them - they live 2 hours away. She is adopted and her own family isn't even that close to her, but they do love her. His family however actively participates in treating her like crap or like she's invisible - they just ignore her while she is at the dinner table, or at holidays. They are unreal. And the fact that he ALLOWS them (he even talks negatively about her behind her back to his parents and siblings) is unforgiveable in my book.I think she deluded herself into thinking, hoping, praying he would change or something. That somehow it would get better later - well, it's continued to be the same. They wouldn't have married if it hadn't been for the pregnancy - they thought they were doing the responsible/right thing. She had only known him 4 mos or so. more

Resolved Question: Wedding Thank-you Notes - Not all received - What to do now??

My husband & I were married last year on 7-7-07. I'm a very organized person, & kept track of everything in regard to our wedding. We had a file box with a card for each invitee. On the card you list the guests, their invite response, any gift sent, when you sent a thank-you, etc. This helped me to send our thank-you's out timely. I broke the job down into several batches - Friends, Family, Co-workers, etc. Well, here we are coming up on our one year anniversary & we just rec'd a card from my husbands aunt congratulating us. In her card she mentions she hopes we rec'd her gift, because she never heard anything from us. She also mentions that my husband's cousin also sent a gift & never heard anything. After checking my file box - I found these were sent out along with 8 others on the same day & none of them were rec'd! What do we do? Do we send a new thank-you now? Do we include a note about what happened? Do we send them an apology gift of some sort? I feel so terrible! more

Resolved Question: Friends of ours are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Gift ideas please!?

The gift will be from my husband and myself. We are in our 30's married 8 years. We will be spending about $200 on them. We don't have a clue what to get them. It's one of those things where we don't want a gift we give them to become a 'burden' if they don't like it. We would hate it if they felt obligated to keep it or display it if they didn't really like it. For that reason we are leaning towards getting them a certificate or an outing (tickets to something, dinner). However tickets are tricky as they both work out of town often and we are never sure of their schedule. Ack! Suggestions would be appreciated! more

Resolved Question: What should I get, if anything, for my wife on our wedding anniversary?

(17 years ago today (8-18-90), my wife and I got married, but before you answer the question up top, please read some pertinent additional information): We have been seperated almost 6 months now (I guess legally seperated would be the correct term to use) & won't be officially divorced until the judge says so (or issues the final divorce decree) in February, so technically are we still married, & do I need to get her a gift? In addition to that, my wife's infidelity is what led me to file for divorce. So, do I still get her a gift? OK, last part is that I'm a single Dad of three boys (13, 10 & 7), do I get a gift for her or not? Looking for a good Yes or No answer, & the reasoning behind the answer as to why. Thanks For extra credit: If yes, what would be an appropriate gift? If no, what would be an entirely inappropriate gift for me to send her? ;-)Actually (snicker, snicker) I was going to send her a vibrator! more
