I just thought of this gift idea to give my wife to be as the wedding gift. Get 7 bottles of wine/ champagne and make a custom label for each bottle, one for each of the major milestone anniversaries 1,5,10,25, 30, 40, 50. I thought it would be cool to have bottles with the year we are married on them. it will be lots of fun opening bottles that have been around as long as our marriage! Is this a cool idea or is it just super lame? I was thinking about planning a family get-together for my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary, but when I mentioned it to my brother, all he could say was that he had no money and was very busy. I had not asked him for any financial contribution or help with the organisation, just his opinion as to whether he thought that it was a good idea or not. He does work very hard, and has a big family so I was not expecting him to give anything that he felt he couldn't. All I wanted was his support in organising something for our parents, who have always helped all of us in every way that they could, to say thank you. My sister, who is being made redundant at the end of the summer, is quite willing to help. Should I just continue with my plans and pretend that all three of us helped out, just to keep the peace. Or should I make it clear that my brother had nothing to do with it, and he will be giving them his own gift? Am I just being too sensitive? They have helped him out financially over the years, and my mother spends many hours taking care of his children, I just think that he should show a bit more gratitude. Please help!Thanks for all the opinions, but I do not plan on leaving him out of the occasion at all, but I just wanted him to get a little more involved in the planning. We get on very well most of the time and I am not trying to score points with my parents! My first year anniversary, My husband is a rockabilly musician, I have no clue what to get him, I want it to be special, but it can't be another guitar, he has 13 now.
