My parents' 35th wedding anniversary is coming up. They live in Europe but around that time they'll be visiting me, in California. Our parents got married on my mother's birthday, and we are throwing my mom and her twin a 60th Surprise party and giving them a DVD of their lives growing up to the present, as their gifts. Both my husband and I have continuously worked at the same manufacturing company for over 30 years. We met at the workplace and married and recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Surprisingly none of the managers possessed the kindness to congratulate us. Matter a fact the HR person just said he was married to his wife 35 years! (But he and his wife do not work together). My friends at work and my boss congratulated me and my husband's coworkers also. On many occasions such as birthdays, weddings, illness, and new babies the company shared in celebrating or sent a gift basket! My husband and I are the only employees who ever married from the workplace. (We also work in separate departments.) I feel some resentment to the managers, and will state my feelings when it is the right moment. I know now-a-days people should be happy to have a job- but the morale of the employees is important. I feel as I have on other occasions I shouldn't expect much from the company. Most marriages for people under 25 years of age, end in divorce before they reach their 5th Anniversary. So what's the deal? Do these girls (and guys) actually want to be married to these people until death do they part, or are do they just want to feel like the Prom Queen (or King) for one day, crown and all? My parents 35th wedding anniversary is coming up in August. We are having a small dinner for them since we had a huge party on their 25th and they asked us not to have a party this year. Even though it's just a small, family dinner ... I am trying to do all the little details that go along with the traditional and modern 35th anniversary customs. Since the 35th anniversary doesn't have a flower associated with it ... I thought I would do floral arrangements in coral and jade. Coral is the traditional gift ... and jade is the more modern gift for the 35th anniversary. I thought I could incorporate that into the flowers instead. For us or anything. He just got out of a relationship of 13 years a few months ago & is very irresponsible throwing his $$$ away everywhere but where it needs to be. He doesnt get anyone bday presents, anniversary presents or even Mothers day/fathers day gifts. My dad is pretty sick, so anything i can do to help my parents i do.They are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary this year, so i decided that we could throw them a surprise party. He's taken no interest. I've spent already over a thousand dollars to make this day special, i asked him about money- he has none; i asked him who to invite-he didnt know; i asked him food ideas-he couldnt think. Then sends me a text message that he wants to help, he's just having a rough time right now. Yet, my parents have always been good to us. I messed up when i was younger, and they stood by my side. Right now i'm fighting a bad infertility battle & they are there..but he comes first.
