Thankyou Elizabeth moreResolved Question: what would the world be like if religion and greed never got in the way of science?
what would it be like if Galileo was never put under house arrest if Darwin was never condemned. if Tesla was never screwed over by people he worked for and if Da Vinci had the right technology. many scientist who claimed to discover something were very badly mistreated like Galileo was arrested for saying the earth was not the center of the universe. Tesla was a man who invented allot of things but spent his life in poverty because he kept getting screwed over. he came up with electricity and invented the light bulb. he presented this to his boss Edison who said he would pay Tesla 5000 dollars but Edison took the idea and took credit for it and Tesla got nothing. he also figured out things like Xrays but so the threat in it and refused to experiment with it. Edison worked with this technology then but many workers were badly injured through ratiocination poisoning Edison himself nearly lost his eye. Tesla also came up with things like a machine that caused a small earthquake and created lighting spheres which scientists still find hard to create today. he also came up with wireless and free energy. he claimed that a business man could talk to a man in London while he was in New York. he also found a way to create free electricity for house holders but both these experiments were canceled. the free electricity project was canceled because the man who was paying Tesla to make this found out he would lose money instead of make money and refuse to continue to fund Tesla. so what would life be like now if scientist never had to fear the church and were allowed to continue their research and if scientists were given a better chance of making something instead of having greedy business men cancel their projects that would have improved life. moreResolved Question: why are x-ray in therapy shorter in wavelength than x-rays used for imaging?

Hi there my friend got a letter to ask if she would like to go for a breast scan, now she not one for going to tests. I said she should go really as its very important she is over 50 and I think in this country once you turn 50 you have to go for a test. The problem is she thinks that when that machine takes a xray and admitts radioation she think its not good for you. Do you think I should keep nagging her to go or let it go? moreResolved Question: What do you think this is?
Background: I am self-diagnosed as having depression (with a second opinion) and Self-diagnosed as having some sort of bipolar disorder (no second opinion) Anyway, I do things then have to question if I have done them, even tiny things, it is like I have a goldfish memory and constantly have to remind myself if I have done these things. I also question things I have done in the past, even major events, and although I am sure they did happen I question whether they did. I mean I know they did, but I to reassure myself. What would you attribute this to? Thank you in advance if you answer :D moreResolved Question: is it hard to sneak illegal drugs on a plane (not planning on it just curious)?

I went to the dentist a week ago for a tooth ache. The dentist looked and gave me a prescription for my tooth and said to come back in a week for an xray. I paid at reception £17.50. The next time I came for my xray they didn't ask me to pay as I didn't think they would because I know if you have the same band within 2 months you don't have to pay. I received a letter from the dentist stating that I haven't paid and that I had paid for the prescription due to me attending the practise in pain for my first appointment, and that I need to pay for my second. I paid for my prescription at the pharmacy. This isn't my usual dentist so I'm not really too sure about them. I would contact them but being around Christmas its going to be a while until I get answers from them and it's kind of annoying me. moreResolved Question: What happens in a MRI scan?

Right well about a week and a few days ago I was in a Night Club in town and slipped in the lads toilets as I went down I accidentally pushed another lad I bashed my head and jaw on the floor got up and the bloke I pushed cracked me one as well so now I have a really bad black eye on my right side and a discoloured eye on the left with a painful top of my nose and my eyebrow is painful which when brushing over feels lumpy even after a week... But I did go to the A&E and had an x-ray on my jaw and they said it wasn't broken, it's been a week and a bit later, it's discoloured, my teeth seem to be at an offset position to normal and I struggle to use my mouth i.e. eating, talking as it opens not the full way and is very painful when opening. Could it be possible that they missed something on the x-ray cause I don't want to go to the NHS Walk-In-Clinic or the A&E department and waste their time. I'm at work at the moment but considering going to the NHS Walk-In-Clinic afterwards but thought I would get an opinion before going. Many thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: Costochondritis, any help with home remedies?
Hi I am a 29 year old female and nearly 2 years ago i was diagnosed with costochondritis. Originally thought i was having a heart attack as the pain ran across the left hand side of my chest and pain down my arm. After lots of tests and xrays i was diagnosed with this. It flares up bad sometimes and others its bearable. Never really goes away ( i go to doc regularly to make sure it isnt serious) Was given diclofenac and cocodomol. Unfortunately the cocodomol made me sick....im not good with anything stronger than paracetomol lol. Not sure if the diclofenac is making a huge difference but i take that twice a day. I buy heat patches but they are really expensive considering when its bad i wear at least two a day Anyone with a similar story who can help or give some advice. Again ive had many tests at docs to rule out more morbid conditions so please dont tell me to go back to my gp. Just looking to see if anyone else has other ways of dealing with this Thanks in advance moreResolved Question: if a gym machine cable snapped and the machine broke and smashed my head can i get compensation or sue?

Could someone help here? I was referred to an x ray for the chest, as I have had a cough for about 6 weeks. Antibiotics didn't make it go. The radiologist asked me to face the board, with the machine at the back, and take a deep breath in. Then he came back saying that he could see possibly the nipples and therefore he asked me to turn around, lean with my back on the board and open up the chest towards the maching. He took another shot. He then didn't say anything, and 'the doctor will comment'. Should I be worried or is this in the normal order of things?? anyone elses little ones get better in the nicu? would love to hear some encouragement my son was born wednesday at 39 weeks perfectly healthy 9lb and fed well but soon after we noticed he was going abit blue on his hands and feet and needed oxygen. he had abit of fluid in his lungs which can happen after a c section so he was put on a machine to help him breathe but where he is such a big boy he started fighting against the machine which caused his left lung to collapse.. so they had to sedate him and put him on a mechanical machine so it breathes for him while his lung heals. xray yesterday comfirmed his lung is ok and the drain has been taken out that was in peviously to filter any trapped air. he hasnt needed anymore oxygen which is a good sign and he is stable but when they tried to turn it down he didnt like it so much.his oxygen is currently on 33 they need to give him time to get used to it and slowly breathe again and eventually turn the oxygen down and let him wake up . i just want to know if anyone has been through this before and will he recover eventually? what if he can never breathe im so worried moreResolved Question: my baby is in the nicu and im finding it hard to cope?

I am going to Florida in July to go to all the theme parks- as it is a dream come true for me. We leave on July 14th and will be there for two weeks. What I am concerned about is what to wear there. My aunt (who has been before and who is coming also) says I need to just wear like shorts and tshirts. Is this correct? Because I truly hate shorts and I never ever wear them. I was thinking of taking: linen shorts and maybe some linen trousers, and tshirts and vest tops- with short jackets to cover my shoulders from the sun. I was looking in a shop recently and they had like this beach cover up stuff- would I need such items for the water parks? Also in the water parks do I have to just have my swimwear on to go on the rides? Or can I at least wear bottoms? I am going to wear a swimsuit as it is easier than worrying about two pieces, so when I am on the rides can I wear a pair of shorts over the swimsuit while I am on the ride. I don't mind taking my top off that I will be wearing over, but can I leave my bottoms on or not. Also I have a denim button up dress- it is light and comfortable and should dry quickly, so I was thinking of taking that to wear to the water park as it is easy to get on and off. And shoes are trainers best? And also I will need to carry a bag to put my purse, phone, sunglasses, sun tan lotion, water and whatever else I might need. So what type of bag would be best, an over the shoulder bag, or like a small back bag. Obviously a normal handbag will not be suitable. And is there anything else I should know about while I'm there. The final thing is, im due to get my period the day we leave, can I still go on the rides while I am on my period? And what about the water park? Can I take sanitary protection into the park in my bag, and will security staff- whoever checks bags say anything about it, and is there scanners to walk through. And the airport will they say anything and can I put protection into my handbag to take on the flight? Thanks moreResolved Question: What happens if you refuse to take your belt off at airport security?

In january my dad went to the doctors because he had a bad chest and flu like symptoms. the doctor told him to go to the hospital as she was pretty sure he had pneumonia. We got to the hospital and he was breathless, tired and could barely walk, i told this to the person on reception but as there were no wheelchairs available in the reception area he had to walk up to the 4th floor to the ward. we got there and the doctors had him sit for 2 hours filling in forms before they looked him over. he went into hospital at 1.30pm, at 6.30pm they finally stopped poking and taking blood from him. his blood was sent to the lab and the doctor came and told us he had a chest infection and pneumonia, he was put onto a machine to help him breath as he couldnt get enough air into his body. at 8 i went to get him some clothes from home and when i got back the doctors had changed shift and he was being looked after other doctors and they were all wearing masks and gowns. we asked why this was and he told us that he is being tested for swine flu. we asked why no one had mentioned it to my brother or myself. one of us had been there the entire time so why no one mentioned it to us was beyond me. he said he knew nothing of it as had just changed shift and when we asked if we could have masks his response was "if we give you masks we wont have enough for the staff" in a hospital there arent 2 spare masks? right ok. my dad was started on antibiotics and he had several chest xrays and blood tests done. he was in the hospital for 2 and a half weeks, on the 3rd day he was transfered to the haemotology ward because his white blood count was incredibly high, i realise this is a symptom of pneumonia. we were sent to 2 different wards before we found him on the blood ward because no one had a record of him being moved! he was on this ward for 1 day then moved. he was then sent to a ward to monitor his breathing. he is claustophobic and gets really bad panic attacks in small spaces. he was told he was going to be put on a machine where his whole head would be in a mask sort of like an astronaut. he said no to this because of his claustophobia and the doctor told him he was going to put it on him while he slept if he didnt agree to it while he was awake, my dad said he would discharge himself if he woke up with it on and so they didnt put it on him instead he was put on one with a facial mask. So, around day 10 a doctor came to see my dad, because of all the doctors he didnt ask who he was thinking he was just a normal doctor, the doc also didnt tell him who he was. he took some blood tests and then left. on day 17 i was at home getting ready to visit my dad and i received a call from the hospital saying to pick my dad up because he was fine and well and could come home now. i thought this odd beause last i heard he still had pneumonia and the hest infection hadnt been treated. i asked the doctor about this and was told that my dad was going to be "just fine" 2 days previous to this my dad was started on a 10 day ourse of antibiotics. a canular was put in his arm, starting and the fold of his arm going up to his shoulder to insert the antibiotics, 2 days later he had this removed and he was discharged, without finishing the course of antibiotics and was sent home without any medication. about 2 weeks later he was still bad and his breathing had gone bad again, he made an appointment at the doctors and when he went he was told that the pneumonia had not gone and his chest infection still there. he was given a course of antibiotics and sent home. he was back and forth from the doctors about the pneumonia over the next month. on the 3rd of march my dad had an appointment to go and see a specialist for some tests at the hospital. we later found out this was the "mara unit" the doctor my dad saw turned out to be the same doctor that came and saw him at the hospital and took blood for tests. he told him he has leukemia, CLL. my dad was in far to much shock to really ask any questions. it turns out the hospital suspected cancer back in january and thats why the doctor came to see him. we were also told that because the pneumonia was still here he could not start any treatment for at least 6 weeks and so was sent home to just sit and wait knowing he has cancer. im sorry this is so long but i need to know what my steps are, when i asked his gp about further steps she couldnt comment because she didnt know what had gone on. but had the hospital treated him properly in january he would be able to start treatment and now his spleen has enlarged and the doctor says his cancer is progressing quicker than they first thought, but its still 3 weeks till he can start treatment if he can on that date. moreResolved Question: Airport security risk?
I recently learned about the airport security scanners than show different colours for different elements in the baggage. Blue/Black is for metals, Green is for plastics and Orange is for anything organic... so in my book thats not a very good way of stopping drugs and explosives through security! For instance... ...wood is organic and cocaine is organic, so if someone was to buy a wooden souvenir from a shop, hollow it out and fill it with cocaine does that mean it would still look like a normal souvenir to the xray machine? i mean your just replacing an organic filling with another organic filling right? or think about this... how many people put bottles of spirits in their checked luggage? these show up orange too right? so filling a spirit bottle with drugs or petrol would look no different. Along comes the trusted old Al Qaeda to sort out the "problem"? It's no secret, the majority of the people are "against" the TSA xray scanners. This poses a problem for the authorities, especially when so many are choosing to opt out or just refuse to comply with TSA demands. But,....just on time,...along come the "bad guys" with another "plot" which, coincidentally of course, helps the TSA 'justify' the use of the xray machines. Al-Qaeda fanatics may be planning a horrific 'Frankenbomber' suicide attack by implanting explosives into a human body. Defence analysts logged conversations between users of a online forum in which Muslim extremists debate terrorism methods which could beat new US aviation security checks. The alarming posts included one by a user who claimed to be a surgeon, promising a 'new kind of terrorism'.
