Open Question: Can I complete this Business Management community college program?

There is this community college program that is in another province that I am interested in doing. The province that I am in(Quebec) has high school up to grade 11 and then they have this school called cegep where you can either do a pre-university course which is 2 years long or a 3 year course that prepares you for a career. If I go to the other province though to do the course which is not too far from where I live(Ontario), I would have to do grade 12. Thing is though is that I already did some cegep in the past in a computer science course which is a 3 year program. For the first year or so in that course, I was actually above class average in most of the courses I did, but then something went on in the second year and then I sort of dropped out. I actually was also above average compared to the rest of the class when I did the introduction to english course in college as well as the professional working english course, but when it came to doing the literary genres course I failed it 2 times. The first time I did the literary genres course in fantasy literature, I had a 54(passing mark is a 60), then when I did canadian literature which is another literary genre course I had even a lower mark partly because I did not put as much effort in that class than the first one. In order to have the cegep diploma, you need to pass like 4 english courses and I only managed to pass 2. Now if I wish to do the business management course in Ontario, I need to have grade 12 community college english and grade 11 community college math. I problebly have math in Quebec equivalent to grade 11 university math in Ontario and there were some parts of that math course that I really had a hard time in but I am sure that if I did grade 11 community college math that I could do it without too much trouble. My weak point obviously is my english writing, but if I do an english for working course, I am sure that I can pass with over 65 at least compared to the englsih courses that requires you to analyse stories. Also, the business management program that I am taking has more emphasis on math than english from what I read up being a business course and all. But it does have 2 communication courses in the first two semesters, but after that I don't think I have to worry about advanced writing courses that much except maybe if I have to do the business plan course but I think I can handle it. Now the question is, how hard can this program be if the passing mark in that community college program is 50 percent compared to the 60 percent back in Quebec and the fact that my English writing is not that great and that I think I can work decent in the grade 11 community college math that is required of in that business management program? Thanx. more

Voting Question: Is there training for black youth about jail?

My last stretch wasn't too bad. The stories of how so and so got caught, the foolish mistakes that lead to an arrest, the obvious mishaps within the game plan of the crime that made it fail, interesting stories. Only thing odd to me is all the brothas in there, not a single one admitted guilt or could at least have a laugh about it. It was the same old "I didn't do nuthin, I was mindin my own business" type of thing. Every single one was like that, I can only imagine that black youth go thru some type of training to prepare them for jail?Blah blah blah, those stats mean nothing to me. My wife is black and has never been pulled over by a cop in 40 years. Im white and get pulled over all the time, just so happen to have undesirable product in the trunk at times. Wish them cops stop profiling me like that... more

Voting Question: What do people do for gap year?

My sister is 17 and will be graduating from high school next year (2011). Ultimately she wants to go to Norway to study at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) in an English language bachelor program called "International Environment and Development Studies", but only after taking off a year or two for a working holiday overseas, preferrably somewhere in continental Europe. When I studied abroad, I used to meet European "gap students"aged 18-19, so I figured that my sister is up for a "gappy" program. But we really don't have much information on what that is, because it's not a very common thing to do in our country. My sister's study will mainly be about understanding how the environment, culture, trade and politics influence development; and learning how to find local and global solutions to injustice and poverty. She has big dreams of making good things happen in our country through human development, education, and business. Apart from that, she is also a performing arts enthusiast who plays great music and acts in amateur theatre productions on and off. She loves volunteering for community development projects in our country like teaching less fortunate kids, reforestation, integrated agroforestry, and mobile health services (where a crew of health professionals and volunteers drive a van of medical facilities to provide free health check ups and basic medicine to poor people in different areas of the province. The reason why she wants to take time off before university is because she is well aware that the education in our country is mostly just a bunch of formality, a checklist to tick off with no real encouragement to pursue the love of learning and fulfill potential in order to make our country a better place. Really good education is a luxury few have access to, and those who can afford it normally come from very rich families with extravagantly self-indulgent lifestyles, who shower their kids with branded items and discourage their kids from working. As a result, many high school graduates who were "well educated" become very self centered consumerists who know very little about the real world, lacking the discipline and maturity to cast a worthy vision and follow it through. My sister is determined that she will not become just another statistic, but that is very hard to break out of if that's all you've known all your life. And so she decides to break the cycle by traveling abroad at a young age to get a job, support herself, gain basic life skills and develop the discipline to do it consistently, and just understand life a little bit better by experiencing how others in different parts of the world live theirs. She believes that a year off or two to pursue these goals will help her know herself better, appreciate her dreams and future studies, and develop the necessary disciplines to sustain her future pursuits that she otherwise would have never learnt in school, and especially not in our country. So, after all is said and done, we'd be grateful for the following information: What can my sister do for gap year, from which she can learn a lot to prepare her for her future studies? Are there any organizations which organize such programs? Would it consist of a long internship with cash allowance, or working odd jobs while volunteering for a development project, involve the management of some kind of entrepreneurship / fund raising, or is it something else? What are some ways that European students spend gap year while traveling to foreign countries outside Europe, and what are some ways that Asian students spend gap year while traveling to Europe? How about visas and work permits for Norway and/or other European countries? What can our family (and ultimately my sister herself) do throughout the following year to plan this carefully and make sure that it follows through? My sister and I are citizens of Indonesia (Southeast Asia). She speaks fluent English and is a fast learner of other languages too. Spent some of her childhood in the States, Australia, and The Netherlands; but will be graduating from an international curriculum secondary school in Jakarta. Thank you! more

Voting Question: what can I do about my business partner?

My business partner and I had an argument and now she wont return my phone calls. The problem with this is that she takes all the calls for our business because she has a better calling plan. I have been cut off of my business and I am scared that she is bad mouthing me to our clients. Our agreement is that we split all profits 50/50, and when one of us has time off they still get there cut. It has been two weeks, she refuses to pay me my share and I don't know what to do. I had to sell my grandmother's jewelry just to make rent, my phone which is my lively hood is going to be shut off, I am so stuck. I am worried to approach any of our regulars because of all of this mess and I am all ready hearing rumors about this. I want to be prepared to go to court, I have looked into arbitration and small claims court (which is depressing, we were friends) however from everything I have read I am unclear if there is anything I can do about stopping her from ruining my reputation or repairing what she has already done. I also don't know how to have the business split up by a judge. Would that be small claims court? We have a couple of regular businesses that we both work with that is the core of our business and we would need to split them up. Unfortunately, I know she thinks that because she has all the numbers that all our businesses are hers (I know this because she said that in our argument that started all of this) I have been hoping all of this would just cool down and go away but after my rent deadline passed I fear that she is really out to ruin me. I don't know what to do and I know I am in over my head but I don't want to let my partner bully me out of my business. What can I do, any advice is welcome. more

Resolved Question: IRS ENROLLED AGENT EXAM?

I'm planning on taking the IRS enrolled agent exam this year, but I'm a little confused. I would prefer for someone that has taken the test to answer my questions. 1. What study guide would you say is the most relevant to the 2010 exam and where can I get it? 2. Do I have to take all 3 parts of the exam, If my intent is to prepare only Individual taxes? (The reason why I ask this question is because I notice the Part 1 is for Individual, Part 2 is for Business and Part 3 is for Representation, Practice and Procedures.I would think that Part 1 and Part 2 would be more relevant to what I want to do) 3. How far out were you able to get an appointment when you scheduled to take the test? 4. How hard is the test? 5. How long did the entire process take before you got your certificate and card? more

Resolved Question: "The Lead Farmer" plot idea, any assistance to making it better?

Ok, bare with me as this may seem like a wall of text to you, but here goes nothing. I am planning on writing another book, and it has a different plot. Basically, I was inspired to write this one after thinking about 'Tropic Thunder' in which Robert Downey Jr. Says "Im a Lead farmer mother****er!" So, that leads me to a whole chain of events for a new story I will entitle this project "The Lead Farmer" To be short, this plot is about a 32 year old Iraq war veteran who had hit hard times just a year out of the war. Basically, he was a POW for three years, his family thought he was dead, but out of the blue he returns (it explains it in the story) and he meets with his family once again, however they are in deep debt and his wife has been seeing someone, however he is unaware. He gets the rough end of the stick as she explains that she was too worried and can no longer stand to be in such a financially distraught family so she divorces him, he goes through a spiraling depression as his kids are taken away from him by the love of his life, and he leaves the city to buy a 60 acre farm out in the middle of nowhere to start a new life. He soon realizes that the only thing that makes him happy is his love of firearms, he loves to shoot targets. Soon, he hears from the news that the government is issuing a massive tax on Firearms and Ammunition. What he does next is buys as many bullets as he can, traveling city to city to fill up his Ford Econoline van with not only ammunition, but reloading supplies as he prepares to start a new business. However, the government outlaws the sale of straight gunpowder and bans the process of Reloading used ammo cartridges by unlicensed individuals. Eventually, the hero of the story starts to make his own gunpowder and buys more and more used brass, and soon becomes one of the most effective unlicensed reloaders in the country. However, avoiding taxes on guns he soon attracts federal attention and they investigate him from afar, and find that he is breaking the law. Being an ex-soldier *specifically a Special forces, maybe Force Recon or Green Berets*, he has great firearms training and an ability to win people over. Gradually, as the government prepares a raid, the local sheriff informs him of the bad news, and he soon gets together some good Friends to defend his farm as he locks and loads, barricading his property with all sorts of obstacles as the FBI gets on the move. He is completely prepared for the government raid, and he causes a face off more fatal than any other police raid in history, however, he is eventually killed by a trap, the government using his children to lure him out and of all people who would kill him, it is the only other survivor from the POW camp he was from. So, basically, the Lead Farmer is about a guy who was in the army who had a love of the second amendment, but he hated the tax on guns and ammo, blah blah blah, good for people of both political affiliations because he will be interpreted as either A. A tragic Hero, or B. A tragic villain. Either way, he is killed, but takes down more than his fair share of federal agents, who have families. So how is this plot? Needing work? Or is it ok? more

Resolved Question: I'm a rising senior and need help with college stuff?

Hello everyone. I am a rising senior and I am very interested in studying business (preferably some form of international business with a minor in Mandarin), but I'm not sure what the best colleges are for this area. I'm from north Georgia, so I'd like to stay close to home, but I wouldn't be close-minded enough not to attend a school based on location. I've done pretty well in my past 3 years of high school. I began attending a fairly prestigious private boarding school in Chattanooga, Tennessee, when I was in 9th grade. I had trouble with the change in work load at first, since I had gone to terrible quality public schools up to that point. During my freshman year, my GPA was a 3.49. Sophomore year was a 3.67 and my junior year was a 3.88. I've been told that this pattern of my grades improving over my high school career looks very good to colleges and are more impressive than similar grades in public schools. I've also taken many challenging courses, with several being Honors or AP. I've also taken the SAT once (although I plan to take it 1-2 more times and the ACT as well). I had a 600 in Critical Reading, a 630 in Math, and a 610 in Writing. I actually didn't prepare for it at all, so I'm confident I'll do better my next time(s). Thanks for all the help! more

Resolved Question: Advice on how to obtain a 4 million dollar for business investment.?

I am a 19 year old student at the University of Kansas. I am attending to get my degree in accounting, and planning on attending grad school for my masters. I am wanting to prepare myself for my career business plan in the future, and have been seeking advice from books, banks, ext. So I'd like to get some network advice as well. My future career plan is to become an owner of a student housing franchise (Apartments for current students in college). I would like to open my first one up, get it settled, and the continue to build my company across America. I need advice on how to win over a loan officer when the time comes to apply for my loan. Below is my current plan.. any tips are appreciated. My credit is not the best it should be, due to some irresponsible judgements as a teen. But I am slowly fixing the problem. In January 2011, I plan to debut a small company called "Lawrence Tax Service", which will assist students and low income clients to file their W-2's and 1040's at a very low fee, after my first year with this I would like to expand the company to other colleges in the state. I am doing this so that I can build a reference that I am able to start, run, and operate a company. I will be saving the money from what the company earns into a high interest savings account for a down/partial payment for the loan on the apartment complex. This probably seems a bit much, but like I said. Any advice on how to win over a loan officer would be very helpful. I want to plan my future the correct way so that I may advance it to its full potential! more

Resolved Question: Dilemma between new job and holiday!?

*Sorry its in a different catagory but no one seems to answer business ones especially since this is more of a moral question.* Ok well I've needed a job for quite a while now and still do. Last week Thursday and Friday I did a work trial for a cafe near my house. At the end of Friday I was told by someone who portrayed themselves as the owner that they had to just try out one more girl on Monday and that he'd call me Monday night to let me know if I'd gotten the job. Suprise suprise Tuesday came and I still hadn't heard anything. So called them just before closing and was informed by a lady that she was in fact the owner and that she was the one who needed to see me work as its her decision on who gets the job. Disappointed by this and definitely felt that I'd been used as cheap labour. Either way she asked me to come in the next day (Wed) to do a 2 hour work trial so she could decide. I agreed and in fact was asked to stay on and do the whole day. At the end of this day, I was told by the woman I will be working with that she has recommended me as the replacement and even the owner said herself that although she had one more girl to do a work trial who she wasn't sure about , that she was pretty sure I was her choice and that I'd get a call Friday evening to let me know. Now the job is a very hard one. There are only 2 people running the cafe at any time. One woman takes order through phone and in person and makes sandwiches. My job would involve all cooking, cleaning, making and preparing ingredients for both our duties and so much more. It would be 5 days a week Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3pm. Now the only problem is that when the owner asked me did I have any holidays planned I said no. This was in fact a lie as I have 3 weeks of holiday booked from the first week of August. The only problem is that while I would have been able to quit before, they in turn mentioned that they had their own holiday booked so while the owner would have stepped in herself to cover me, that's not possible and they won't have the spare hands to train anyone else at the last minute. Now I'm a little bit torn, I do need the job and I see no reason why I should cancel my holiday just because they are going on holiday too, and why should I give up the chance of of a job and money just because they only have two people working in an entire cafe. I have decided that I will probably just work for 3 weeks and then give them two weeks notice that I'll have to leave which should leave them enough time to find a replacement and have them trained up However I dont think I'll tell them the truth and ill lie instead, my mother is waiting for a double knee transplant and I will have to be her full time carer and take care of my two younger sisters but I'll just lie about when the operation takes place. I know its a bad thing to do and I do feel bad about it but do I really have any other choice. Does anyone have any opinions? Good bad or neutral? Any employers want to give their opinion? Thanks very much x more

Resolved Question: Should I start a simple tax preparation business?

A few years ago I worked at a tax center and I LOVED it. I was forced to do it by my unit while I was in the Army and absolutely hated it at first. I was clueless, scared, and worried I'd make too many mistakes and even my supervisor had not faith in me at first. But by the end of the tax season I had completely proven him and myself wrong and discovered that I wouldn't mind being a tax preparer someday. Although I prepared taxes for a season I was no expert, especially with the more difficult ones such as owning a business, stocks, etc. But I was an expert at preparing simple tax returns and pretty good at itemizing. So I was wondering if I could start a business preparing simple tax returns for those who only have a couple W-2's, 1099's, child care expenses, and maybe a house. Aside from having experience for only that one tax season, I have been preparing my own taxes since then and have never made a mistake, I also plan on pursuing a degree in Accounting and perhaps volunteering somewhere to learn all I can about taxes. Basically I plan on starting out small doing preparing simple tax returns at a low cost and hopefully turning it into something bigger after I become more skillful. Is this a good idea and how would I go about attracting customers? Do you think I could make a profit by preparing simple tax returns? more

Resolved Question: What and why do I get deja vu dreaming?

so i had a hard time trying to figure out how to answer someones resolved question..don't laugh at me..lol! anyways, i will just ask the question which i will answer at the same time. So i too have these dreams where i am doing or experiencing something and when i awake, like 2 weeks later i end up really doing exactly what i dreamed. Along with having the same conversation in my dream. I know it sounds weird and all but from reading most of your guy's experiences, i too have the same problem. But honestly, i don't see it a problem, i see it more like a gift from God i guess? I dont know, but i think God allows some of us to see things beyond or ahead in life and the future than most or the average person out there. A lot of times it has helped me in the past to be prepared for something bad that may happen. And a lot of times it has caused me some trouble...examples for good: i dreamed of my lil sis running away from home. I then didn't really think too much of it to do or say anything to her about it but i then realized i should. So i told her and come to find out, she was really planning to run away...craziness i know. Examples for bad: this one will sound retarded but heck, im just giving an example..lol! So anyways, my girl friend gets mad at me at times for not telling her ahead of times what im planning to do when it comes to me leaving somewhere on a business trip or whatever reason...believe me, i love her with all my heart! And so, what ends up happening is that i remember telling her where i was going but it was the dream i dreamed of me telling her. Basically, i dream of myself telling her i am going somewhere far away and will be back soon. I awake from the dream and i sometimes forget it until something like her reminding me while she is upset with me because i told my friends which told her that i was leaving, that i really told her which really...i didn't. It was only in my dreams that i thought i told her. Yeah, it sucks big time...lol! Anyways, what im trying to say is, i feel for u guys out there with this same gift or condition, or whatever u wanna call it. But i don't agree with most of u guys with these weird answers like we are one with the energy of the world or what not. Or we are born psychics...lol! I just simply think its some gift from God. Now when i mention God, i don't mean allah or buddha or what not, I mean the same God that came down and became a man and allowed His one and only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Anyways, please respond back...i will take criticism and helpful suggestions too. Along with your concerns. Thanks more

Voting Question: Is this a fair deal on a 2010 Camaro 2LT?

Yesterday, I went to my local chevy dealer and they had my dream car. So I asked if I could test drive it and stuff. Later, I was at the desk with my salesman signing papers. They agreed to take my first offer and came back with the billing paper. I noticed they added the freight cost of $850, which is supposed to be in the total already. I didn't like that at all. I was prepared to walk. They said they would wave it off. I was still pissed off and walked away. I didn't want to do business with them. This morning they called and apologized. I'm planning on asking them to accept my offer but since they wanted to add $850 without me knowing, I'm gonna deduct $850 from my offer. Do you think thats fair? I'm not gonna tell you my offer due to privacy issues. more

Resolved Question: Joke: Do Heaven also have power cut?

Came across this story and was wondering if heaven also have power cuts? I thought it is problem only in India, why is this folk feeling so hot? Read the story and please answer a funniest answer: An Illinois man left the snow-filled streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida, his wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet him there the next day. When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick email, unable to find the scrap of paper on which he had written her email address, he did his best to type it from memory. Unfortunately, he missed one letter and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher's wife, whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her email, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream and fell to the floor in a dead faint, at the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen..... DEAREST WIFE... JUST GOT CHECKED IN... EVERYTHING PREPARED FOR YOUR ARRIVAL TOMORROW... P.S. SURE IS HOT DOWN HERE. more

Voting Question: Is there an alternative to the iPod Touch?

I'm starting to run out of room on my current iPod and I'm planning to upgrade soon. I was thinking about getting an iPod Touch, but after reading up on Apple's business practices, I decided to look at every other option before I go with that. (Mainly, this article scared me: http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2009/10/apple-prepares-to-rock-the-market-with-hardware-subsidizing-program.html It basically says that Apple wants to put in an update that will shut down your product and show an ad. So if you have an iPhone and you're in the middle of a call, the phone can drop that call and show you an ad. Yo won't be able to call, text or use apps until you respond to that ad. Scary stuff.) So is there anything that's like an iPod Touch (with apps, email access, etc.)? Help would really be appreciated, thanks. more

IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING: As the news of influenza pandemic broke out, it was witnessed that the government and health officials rushed to purchasing medicines, conducting disaster drills and taking such initiatives that would limit the spread of these diseases. However, one survey indicated that 72% companies had not even begun to prepare for the bird flu pandemic. Most of the business officials in United States stated that they had nobody in charge of a plan that could identify the severity of the issue and its impact on operations. On the contrary, Asian and particularly Southeast Asian countries had planned for this situation, as they previously had to deal with the SARS outbreak in 2003 which brought the regions’ commerce to a standstill. But they were well prepared this time. A survey of 80 corporate officials held by American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong found that nearly every company had someone in charge of such catastrophic situations and 60 percent stated that they had clearly mapped out plans that could be implemented immediately in such a crisis situation. For instance, HSBC, a global bank took steps to help and prepare its employees work from home and also prepared to divide work among multiple sites. Even FedEx said it had prepared contingency plans down to every district or market in Asia Pacific. But what about those businesses that had not yet prepared for a potential outbreak? A report on the outbreak of such a deadly flu reported. “In a world where the global supply chain and real-time inventories determine almost everything we do, down to the food available for purchase in our grocery stores, the importance of advanced planning can not be overstated.” Answer the following Questions: 1. What role do you think goals might play in a company’s planning for any possible pandemic outbreak? List down some goals that you think will be important. 2. Resolved Question: I need help with my economics paper on global warming?

hi i really need help, my paper is due tomorrow and i really dont understand my topic which is: global warmings effect on insurance. its an exploratory essay... i dont really know what that means... like if im allowed to say my opinion... i dont know if it makes sense, i dont know if im even going in the right direction... please, any helpful comment or criticism will help. i really need a B on this paper. this is what i have so far: Global warming is hurting insurance companies because it’s unpredictable. It effects everyone and everything all over the world. There's no telling when and where global warming will strike next. Insurance companies have to keep up with these unexpected changes and it’s getting expensive. There’s a lot of instability in the insurance industry, in 2005 insurers paid $80 billion for weather related disasters world wide. As global warming increases the risk or wildfires, heat waves, droughts, floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters will increase. In the past there wasn’t much global warming, so now they need new policies and things to help regulate and help the insurance companies. (Tuft) There will also be a large effect on people "Climate change will significantly affect the health of humans and ecosystems and these impacts will have economic consequences." (A Positive Effect of Global Warming on Business) The federal government warned all the insurance companies about how global warming will be bad for business and they need to be prepared to maybe lose money. (West) Marsh, the world’s largest insurance broker warned all his clients, "Businesses - if they haven't already - must begin to account for it in their strategic and operation planning." (Gunther) Global warming if really bad for most people and companies. Insurance companies have to be careful about how they can insure. If a person lives in a high risque place where they can maybe predict extreme weather changes they those people loose their insurance: “‘In the past year, some 600,000 homeowners living in a zone that an insurer considers a high storm risk in an era of climate change have seen their policies canceled or not renewed. Resolved Question: 18 year-old Babysitter - would you hire me?

I'm 18. I have never babysat kids on a regular basis but I have babysat loads of time before- mostly for free and I am really good with kids. I know basic first aid and I am looking into CPR classes. I would also like to take a babysitting course for adults seeing that most courses are designed for younger people. I am planning on making a website to advertise myself through microsoft. It is safe- it's purpose is to make me look very professional. I also am going to make business cards and I was thinking of designing a portfolio to show parents. I also plan on making a big list of important questions like bed times, allergies, rules, emergency numbers, etc. I don't plan to have anyone uninvited over while babysitting and won't spend my time on the phone/computer/T.V. I wouldn't mind preparing simple meals if asked and I wouldn't care if parents preferred me to sit at my home or theirs. Prices would be negotiable depending on various factors. I also wouldn't mind starting as a mother's helper or meeting with eventual clients first. I have no criminal history and I love kids.Hi Summer thanks for replying. The reason I didn't have regular babysitting experience is because I never was hired for a regular sitting position. Like If someone's sitter canceled or they couldn't find one I would volunteer. For example, in high school a friend from school babysat after school but couldn't every now and then so I would fill in for her. She was the regular sitter. Around me most regular sitters babyit after school but I would babysit kids if their parents were busy one night if they didn't have sitters in the day or they sitter wasn't free. Sorry for the confusionHi Paige I don't smoke ( or drink) and I'm pretty pacient though I don't have much experince with babies so I couldn't say about that And I am honest and can be creativeI have thought about the day care option. There are a few around me. I would go for an assitant if I worked there seeing they have so many kids.I would also feel more comfortably working with a small number of kids and I feel most comfortable with school-aged kids. more

Resolved Question: Have you ever had a brilliant idea that you failed to act upon and later seen someone succeed with the same?

idea? Many years ago (around 15 + years) I spent months working on a business plan for an Internet dating site, like e harmony etc. but long before any existed. I did loads of work on it, I had a brilliant programmer with a bit of dosh prepared to join and back me, but I kept it on the back burner for too long, years, I never did anything about it. Have you ever failed to act upon an idea and seen someone else succeed with it?(((Our Scott)) From what I know of your hard partying, maybe it's best you didn't have a fortune handed to you at that stage, I'm glad anyway that you didn't get the money, because I probably wouldn't have got to know you :-) more

Resolved Question: I paid the Law Office of Louisa Moritz upfront $1774 for legal & Chapter 13 filing fees?

I never saw or spoke to a lawyer, they filed chapter 13 bk for me which failed..Dismissed For Incomplete Filing, no pay plan submitted. They denied it saying it was a COURT ERROR but they "can't argue with the court" so I have to start over--Refile and pay filing fee again out of my pocket!Meanwhile, the sale date is coming up They prepare docs again, just barely in time, and they have ME file it myself and pay the fee directly to the court. I still hadn't seen a lawyer but I was told I will "when it is time". They said I don't even need to go to court, so I didn't, and neither did a lawyer either! Case Dismissed For Failure To Appear and I can't refile for 180 days. Still no lawyer and they tell me they are moving, changing phone#, FAX#, and the business Name, too. Now my property is unprotected, I don't know what to do and the bank takes my property. Is there anything I can do? Can I hold someone responsible? Also I have not received anything in writing yet, and I have one rental unit and the renters have not received anything in writing either, Do I still collect the rent until I get something in writing from the bank? more

Resolved Question: Who is Cecelia Lee the Marketing Director of HOK office in Beijing?

Cecelia Lee Ms. Xiaoxi Li is a Director located in Beijing, China of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (”HOK“), the U.S.-headquartered architecture, interior design, engineering, planning and consulting firm. Known to the Western World as Cecilia Lee was born in the Northern part of China in 1969 under the name Xiaoxi Li. Cecilia Lee has routinely engaged in questionable, evasive and deceptive legal tactics; when she was persecuted in US court for crimes and for corrupt practices she did not show up in person in court, event not once or stepped on American soil, she was fearful of being arrested. Cecelia Lee claims that she has obtained Master Degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management (“Thunderbird”), a private business school in the United States, and the first and oldest graduate school specializing in international management and global business and another Master from Arizona State University. When she was challenged in court to produce proof of high education, she did not have any information that can support such claims. In fact, pursuant to an order of the court by which the subpoena was issued to Thunderbird School of Global Management for an order to compel the production documentations relating to Lee’s educational background, Thunderbird response dated to July 10, 2008 indicates that once upon a time in America Cecilia Lee has taken total of 15 curses of prerequisite-classes. Moreover, when she was challenged to prove fraudulent health related claims during pre-trial court hearings, Cecelia Lee provided the court with fraudulent medical records that she obtained by bribing hospital officials in China. Since 2005 Cecelia Lee facing civil charges in the United States of America on attempt to murder, make false statements, and commit perjury; false statements (2 counts); libelous posting of slanderous articles, abduction, and grand theft crime, just to name a few and in a way of example. Her trail dates not set as yet. In 2009 the 40-years-old Cecilia Lee started to prepare for her new cyber crime adventure and she recruited the 20-years-old John Travis Flynn who also known to the public as J. T. Flynn to act as her proxy to execute the “perfect cyber crime” with the help of the 60-years-old photographer, Lou Juaneza, the President of Westhoff Studios. Historical criminology has described the underworld role of Fagin-an adult who forces, seduces or teaches minors to commit crimes for him. In contemporary debates, it is sometimes feared that adolescents cunningly evade criminal law by recruiting younger children to commit offences for them. Cecilia Lee is old enough to be Flynn’s mother and Lou Juaneza, the President of Westhoff Studios, is old enough to be Flynn’s grandmother or perhaps Flynn is young enough to be Lou’s grandchild. more

Voting Question: How do I figure a draw for my business's first year when it was a revenue vacuum?

So I started an LLC in Virginia for my lawn care company. Between Mid-April and Early-August it was my only job, so to say I took "nothing" from the company would be a lie. I filed for an extension on my income taxes and Virginia gives you an automatic extension. Federal Schedule-C seems to make this a non-problem, with Virginia however, I am facing a big problem. I invested money to start the business, I poured most of the revenue I earned back into my business, I lived meagerly (whether it was money I already had or money I had earned I guess could be up for debate...) I did make a few transfers from my Business Checking to Personal Checking a few times, but not near enough or as often as to establish a believable "source of income".. my business was simply too capital-intensive at this phase. I was eating my parents food and buying clothes at Goodwill so I could spend on advertising, equipment, and insurance. So how am I going to issue myself a W-2 and tell Virginia I had a draw of "$xxx" and a capital investment of "$xxx" and incurred deductible expenses of "$xxx" that will be plausible. Before I get the whole, "contact your CPA" spiel, I had a sit-down with a CPA a good while ago and I will again, but my plan is to have my income taxes and quickbooks already prepared and in order so that I can pay as little as possible by having them do an "off-season review" rather than an "in-season preparation". I'm trying to come in with State and Federal taxes prepared as well as possible so they can check over them quickly, sign off, and not charge me an arm and a leg. more

Resolved Question: This is my assignmment ...need help...?

Question1 Your client (Company X) has just informed you that they would like you to work on a new campaign that would assist with the marketing of their “new soft drink” product, and would prefer the Broadcast vehicle to communicate a message because of its advantages. The campaign is intended to run for two weeks. What criteria would you consider in the developing the Media plan for company X? Question 2 An electronic gadgets manufacturing firm wanted to market in India a small, hand-held electronic instrument for measuring blood pressure at home. The price of the instrument was fixed at around Rs. 3000 a piece. Being a specialty product, it was perceived to have only a limited clientele. The product was unique in the sense that it offered the convenience of constant monitoring of blood pressure at home, in office or anywhere, without having to visit the doctor. In order to prepare a cold list, an advertisement of the product, along with a coupon, was released in two leading business newspapers in Bombay. Interested individuals were asked to fill up the printed coupon and send it to the firm within 10 days to get a free booklet on management of blood pressure. A majority of the people who responded were found to be suffering from blood pressure, obesity or heart-related problems. A cold list of about 5,000 individuals was generated on the basis of filled-in coupons. Another alternative to this newspaper ad approach, as suggested by the research agency was to obtain a list of credit card holders from reputed banks such as ANZ Grindlays Bank, Citibank, Canara Bank, State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda. Question: What Sales Promotion techniques would be more appropriate for the company to market blood pressure instruments, and why? more

Voting Question: I'm unwilling to annoy potential or existing customers, so what marketing perspective is best for me?

My reason for needing to own my own business is the need for integrity. Most of the companies I've worked for have perpetual integrity issues, including their marketing methods and perspectives. I do Geek Squad-like tech support, and I have a recipe for success, other than a somewhat 'beatnik' attitude towards marketing. My current marketing plan includes: -Business networking meetings -Being prepared to describe the benefits of using my services -A concise Website with free training and well-considered SEO -Pens, pads of paper and other useful items with my logo for existing and potential customers -A Facebook page for my business -Submitting to typical advertising venues like Google and Superpages I'm planning on putting some money into advertising, but I'm concerned that my complete unwillingness to 'bother' customers could make for a very slow start. Examples of what I consider bothersome (but seemingly necessary) practices include: -Nagging customers (on the phone, specifically) to allow me to finish projects/do needed maintenance -Forcing promotion of my business into casual conversation Any tips, books, or Websites you're aware of in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Most of the existing materials out there aren't geared towards people like myself. more

Resolved Question: How should I PREPARE - and is it a bit too early, now?

I'm planning to work as a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER within my local school district beginning this upcoming school year (September, 2010.) I am already starting with the "First day jitters." I want to make A WONDERFUL IMPRESSION on the students and staff at the campuses where I will Sub. How should I "prepare" in the capacity as a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER? - Should I go on a LEARNING-BINGE by visiting my local library and READ all I can, or somehow else to prepare? I have already met with the school board (many board members were my own classmates during our years as STUDENTS in this very same school district) to present my offer. They welcomed my offer with excitement. Since I already have 8 years "teaching" experience under my belt (I was a Substitute Teacher within the neighboring CITY school district, which is a much larger district than mine) upon which to rely as "PREVIOUS JOB EXPERIENCE." I'm wanting to gain as much KNOWLEDGE to instill into the kids and skills to do so. I have taken many human psyche courses during my college years and I have much business experience as well as well as many re-reads of the DALE CARNEGIE courses in professional-circles. I want to prepare SO WELL that any unseen situation at the campuses where I will substitute will not "phase" me. I am advised by local families that these situations WILL happen. Thanks for suggestions and ideas. more

Voting Question: What winter clothing should I purchase for Grand Forks, North Dakota? How safe is walking short distances?

I plan on attending grad school and taking up a teaching assistantship in Grand Forks, ND. Now, I come from Pennsylvania where it's so humid you can swim in the air during most of the year and it snows a good bit, but I know I'm not prepared for a North Dakota winter. Honestly, they scare the crap out of me! And I'd rather not freeze to death. :) Is there any specific winter clothing I should purchase? A special kind of coat, socks, etc? (I plan on putting my business casual clothing and make-up in to a bag and just doing myself up when I arrive before work, rather than trying to walk through it. ;) Also, how safe is it to walk short distances, provided you're reasonably covered? It may be too late for me to get on-campus housing, so I may have to live off-campus. Would it be safe to walk, say, half a mile to campus? Or am I asking for trouble? Honestly, I'm terrified of this big move in general, but mostly I'm afraid of the weather! LOL! more

Resolved Question: Start-up non-profit seeks advice on what start up budget should be.?

Hello, I am in the process of writing a business plan for a Non-profit organization that is in its start up stages. We are still preparing to file our 1023, and this business plan has already helped us narrow down exactly what we are going to do. I averaged the average number of people that visited the park, per month, over the last three years. Our season will run from March till October, so those are the only months that I did the average number of attendance, per month, over a 3-year span. Once I got the average number for each month I multiplied that by .209, which is the percent of people who have a very strong interest in doing what we have to offer. Then, I took that number and multiplied it by .005. I figured that we would be able to capture (.005) half a percent of people who have a very strong interest in participating in our tours. Is that a safe enough number or should I go lower? Then, the next two years I added a (.0025) quarter of a percent more, each year, of additional guest we would attract in combination with a marketing plan to raise awareness. I can start operating on a small level for not a lot of capital; the amount that I forecasted for the 3 years of operation was right around $600,000. What would be a good percent to stay under for start cost? From an investment point what would be a good amount for start up cost? I know that there are a lot of different variables that come into play in a question like that, so I will provide some info that I think you might need. Office space and storage for equipment will cost around $36,000 for the 3 years. Utilities (phone, internet, power, and garbage) around $10,800 for 3 years First year salaries $86,000 Second year salaries $118,500 Third year salaries $139,500 Total over 3 years $344,000 Marketing $20,288 for 3 years (rack card service and other marketing). Other stuff like fuel, maintenance, insurance, and other misc. $102,500 Total $513,588 And the total amount I forecasted for those three years was $611,800. Thank you so much for your time. more
