Open Question: Risk Analysis Example Question. Thanks!?

*** can someone help me identify at least 6 important threats*** Thank YOU! You are the director of engineering for the Antonia Novello Medical Center (ANMC) which was originally constructed in 1963. The hospital is a beautiful example of the Spanish Colonial architecture and is listed on the state and federal historic building registers. However the hospital does not meet current seismic standards and by law must be brought up to standards. Asbestos containing materials were used in the original construction and the retrofit design and construction will have to properly abate these materials. ANMC has completed the planning process, identified the general scope of the project and developed a program cost. The scope includes: Seismic upgrade, program cost: $15 million Asbestos abatement, program cost: $5 million Historic façade restoration: $7-10 million depending on extent of restoration Expansion/upgrade of the MRI/CAT Scan imaging center. $3-6 million depending on size of expansion All of the program cost estimates are based on total design and construction costs (TDCC). The seismic upgrades and asbestos abatement are essential to the project. The façade restoration and imaging center expansion are highly desired by ANMC but not essential; this work could be completed later under a separate project, but that would increase costs. ANMC currently has an approved bond issue totaling $25 million. In addition, ANMC is trying to get a special $10 million grant from the state. If the State grant is received, ANMC’s total budget for the project would be $35 million. However, to receive the state grant, ANMC must be ready to let a construction contract in 18 months. This is a very aggressive schedule. Historically ANMC has used a traditional Design-Bid-Build project delivery method which generally takes 2-3 years to get from the end of the planning phase to the start of construction. Through extensive meetings with the ANMC board of directors, you have established the following goals for this project, in priority order from highest to lowest: 1.Hire qualified designers and builders who will deliver high quality work 2.Ensure critical seismic upgrades and asbestos abatement are completed 3.Get the state grant 4.Complete as much of the façade restoration and imaging center expansion as funds allow Your meetings with the ANMC board have narrowed the potential delivery methods to: Design- Bid-Build, Design/Build Best Value, and Design/Build QBS. The board has asked you to bring a final recommendation for the best delivery method to the board meeting next week. more

Open Question: Which Money in the Bank match do you think will be the most entertaining + YWWA Breakdown Results 2?

Match 3: Bio-Hazard (with Miss Destiny Vaine & Darth Hendrix) vs Mr. Blood (with Simply Edgehead & Ultimate Jobber) With teammates and friends at ringside, this match was capable of getting out of control as the veteran Hazard took on the new and rising Blood. Blood managed to take Hazard, Hendrix and URKO to the limit on GCW along with his partners, but this 1 on 1 contest proved to be a bit different. The 2 locked up and Hazard’s experience allowed him to get a major lead at the start. As soon as they locked up Hazard was wise to get around Blood and place him in a waist lock. After keeping him in it for a few moments he was able to hit Blood with a takedown and keep the waist lock applied on the mat. Blood struggled but managed to work his way back to his feet, but Hazard maneuvered his way in front of Blood again and placed him in a headlock. Within seconds he then put Blood back down with a headlock takeover keeping the headlock applied on the mat. Hazard was showing a pure side of wrestling no one had really known about. Soon enough Hazard turned his headlock into a small package but Blood kicked out at 2. As soon as he was free he came running up only to be knocked back down with an armdrag putting him in an armbar. Fans chanted Hazard’s name in respect to the skill he was showing off. Jobber and Edgehead were cheering Blood as he worked his way up. Hazard received almost all of the fans praise while Blood only received just a handful of people cheering him. Blood had gained a little of a following, unfortunately his partners had gained none thus far. Blood still worked his way up but then Hazard put Blood into another waist lock, this time going write into a german suplex keeping a bridge position for a pin. 1, 2, and a kick out. Hazard kept his hands locked and maneuvered back to his feet to hit a 2nd german suplex with a bridge. 1, 2, and another kick out. Again Hazard had his hands locked and a 3rd time he brought Blood up for a german suplex with a bridge. 1, 2, and a 3rd kick out. Hazard released his hands that time but the damage had been done, showing he was back to his more physical style again. As Blood worked his way up slowly Hazard ran and hit a baseball slide on Jobber and Edgehead who were a little too close to the ring for Hazard’s liking. When he turned around though Blood was running for him. Luckily Hazard had him scouted out and took him down with a hip toss. Blood got back up and then walked into a thunderous spinebuster. 1, 2, and a kick out. Blood was putting up a fight, but Hazard was controlling the match at this point. But just then Jobber and Edgehead were on the apron. Hazard was distracted but Hendrix came and pulled them off causing them to land their face on the apron. Sadly the distraction worked and Hazard turned around right into a snap suplex. Blood crawled and got a quick pin but Hazard kicked out. Blood got up from the pin and then began stomping down Hazard mercilessly. However, Hazard was able to counter and grab Blood’s foot to put him in an ankle lock. Fans cheered and Blood thrived in pain. He tried to crawl over to the corner but he was in the center of the ring. Nonetheless he made an attempt and after nearly 30 seconds he made it to the ropes. But Hazard wouldn’t break the hold right away and waited for the ref to reach the count of 5. Still, Blood was able to play it smart and with the help of the ropes he hopped to his free foot and hit Hazard with an inziguri. Hazard was down and Blood crawled to get a pin. 1, 2, and a kick out. Blood looked a little angry so he got to his feet as Hazard struggled up and delivered clubbing blows to Hazard’s back. Hazard tried to get up but every time he was close Blood would nail him in the back and put him right back down. But soon Hazard found a way around that process and grabbed Blood by the legs and catapulted him into the turnbuckle. Blood turned around and went right into a piledriver. Fans cheered and Hazard hooked the leg. 1, 2, and a kick out. Hazard turned Blood over after the pin and after hitting a few forearms to his face he put Blood in a cobra clutch. Blood began to fade away quickly and soon enough the ref checked on him. He rose his arm once and it fell. Twice and it fell. He rose it a 3rd and final time and this time Blood was able to keep it up. He began crawling as fans booed and he finally made it to the ropes. Hazard released the hold but got in the refs view. This allowed Blood to kick his foot back and nail Hazard with a low blow. Hazard was hunched over and in trouble as Blood hit his DDT. Blood got the pin and hooked the leg. 1, 2, and a kick out. Blood was livid that his finisher did not get the job done. He began hitting the mat and losing it until his teammates managed to cool him down. As soon as he was a bit more relaxed he made his way to the top rope for a high risk maneuver. But his loss of control cost him because Hazard stopped him and Blood was in a dangerous position. Hazard thethen climbed to the top rope and connected with a giant superplex. Fans cheered and Hazard got back in the match. After a few seconds the 2 began to stir and started making their way up. Blood was up 1st and ran for Hazard but Hazard caught him and hit him with a belly to belly slam. Then like earlier, he kept his hands locked and brought Blood up to hit the same move again. Hazard again kept his hands locked and hit it a 3rd time. Only this time he didn’t stop at 3. Hazard kept his hands locked and brought Blood up, this time to hit him with a Bio-Bomb! Hazard got the pin and it gave him the victory. He joined Hendrix and Vaine as they rose his hand in victory in the center of the ring. Just then Risky Business and a new knockout by the name of Trixie came running out and attacked the 3. Blood soon joined in and they all laid out the 3 of them. Blood then called his partners into the ring where he shockingly betrayed them and attacked them along with Risky. Then with 5 bodies on themat, Blood, Risky, and Trixie stood tall over all 3 of them raising each others hands. Winner: Bio-Hazard Psycho Dude 99 backstage with Michelle McKenzie After having a terrible week of Gale betraying her, Michelle’s week got even stranger as PD actually hit on her! He even offered her a spot in The Force. But no matter how many times PD harassed Michelle, she kept on politely declining. Finally PD grabbed her and it set Michelle off and she slapped PD and stormed away. PD then said Michelle’s life would be a living hell leaving fans to wonder what would happen in the future. more

Open Question: Can Quantum Mechanics solve the 4 space time gravity problem?

resubmitted question, can she be saved via quantum mechanics? What are the relativistic effects of gravity of Gravtube.com on Time Stop Machine Travel Machine Trough it? In my innovation Gravtube.com I would like to know the relativistic effects of my other innovation Time Stop Machine which is a 4-sphere superconductor going through the tunnel for transportation at 4,000 mph. The Time Stop Machine is two sets of rotating spheres separated by an electrostatic barring. A person is inside the center of all four spheres. The inner spheres are rotating via a peta laser via fusion at 99.999% speed of light. Hunchbac... The person inside will experience a four dimensional torsion effect due to the distortion of the Riemann-Lorentz null geodesic on which his/her world line lies in spacetime, because the axisymmetric Kerr solution of the rotating spheres in Time Stop Machine will dilate time to such an extent that the light cone of an external observer will be sheared in the imaginary time direction by an influx of quantum gravitinos under Lorentz symmetry breaking of the SU(2) group to its antinormal decomposition of U(1)xSU(3), whereupon the inverse Penrose process will generate an ergosphere circumscribing your four spheres - but concentric to none of them - due to the presence of electrostatic barring, which will give an evanescent wave coupling (tunnelling) effect THROUGH the barring separating the two sets of spheres, LOWERING the Coulomb energy required in your fusion engine, and thus cause Bose-Einstein condensation within your peta laser to give the cumulative effect, if the test subject inside the Gravtube.com is a female, of giving her ma-HOO-ssive boobies. Each set of spheres is separated by a unique electrostatic barring. Each set of inner spheres are rotating.Hunchback gave that answer about female body parts. not me. more

Open Question: Has anyone ever worked as a "Phone Banker" for wells fargo?

I just applied for what was listed as a "phone banker 1" position on wells fargo's job website. I've heard that it's basically just working in a call center (which is fine). I've waited tables for the past few years and planned on sticking with that but am needing something less physical and more stable now that I am 5 months pregnant. Just wondering if anyone on here has bever worked or is working as that and knows anything about it or possibly has any insight on the hiring process. thanks so much for any hints and heads up : ) more

Open Question: NEED Advice badly regarding job interview?

I recently applied for a job that handles work comp claims. This is primarily a customer service position. I am a manager of a call center with 8 years of experience in this field. So my customer service is very good. I have an agent that actually works beneath me. He applied for the same position. However, he is having relations with a co-worker whose sister happens to be the one leaving the job WE are both applying for. To make a long story short, she helped him with his resume and portfolio. She also even sat in on the interview with her manager. I am well over qualified for this position and the agent is only 22 years old with 1.5 years of customer service experience. This is a huge position and takes great responsibility but I assume that this whole process was fixed. I need advice on who I should tell and what I should do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. more

Open Question: WHY DO ONLY PRODIGIES MAKE IT IN THE MUSIC WORLD?

im saying this as a 14 year old who loves classical music. i just saw online on my city's symphony website that this 15 year old cello prodigy is getting to play with them. sure they may have a natural talent for the instrument that isnt even explanable, but why only them? why is it only teenage prodigies get to smile because they feel they have accomplished something they never dreamed of? i have written a classical peice, and are in the process of finishing two others that just came to me, and why does it feel like i, and people/kids like me, will never get the oppurtunity the 15 year old prodigy gets? i dont find it fair. i cant explain how big my love is for music. yesterday while getting lost in music, i thought of this quote: I don’t want time I don’t need time I have time I’m not going to put time in the back of my head I’m not going to dust it off in twenty years And try to remember why I had it You can’t get rid of time You can’t put it aside You have to use it And use it because you want to Not because you have to i know what your thinking: "your a self-centered idiot". fine, think that. but just tell me if you think thats fair. please. this was a serious question and i only need serious answers! :D ps - sorry if you dont understand my quote :)im not a prodigyi do play the piano, and i am told i have a natural talent for music, but it wasnt until i was 11 that i really started to become obsessed with it, and it has only been around 6 months since i have loved classical music. so that is why i dont say im a prodigy. i am 14, and read music at a begginers level (but my teachers says im moving faster than any of her students). but i have an ear for music that should come along with many years of practice, but it doesnt :) more

Resolved Question: In a three-stone setting, what color/clarity rating should I get compared to the side diamonds?

I found a great deal on an engagement ring setting -- the one my girlfriend absolutely loved -- a two months ago and purchased it without the center diamond. It is a white gold ring with 11 stones: 8 .20ct diamonds, 2 .35ct diamonds, and the center diamond will be .75ct. The two side diamonds are G/SI. I located several diamonds within my price range that are E-F/VS1-VS2. But, through my whole diamond searching process, I noticed that you can't tell the difference between a E-F diamond and a G/H diamond unless they're side by side. So, would the E-F center stone make the side stones appear more yellow? In other words, would the higher-color-rated center stone make you more aware of the lower-color-rated side stones? I don't really want to shell out the extra money, if it will make the side stones look worse. more

Resolved Question: Why AKP Turkish Government arrested Elected Mayors of the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democratic Party (BDP)?

Personally I think the real reason behind the PKK's recent attacks is related to the police crackdown on the BDP's support bases in the city centers. Since April 2009, police have regularly launched operations against the BDP party. In those operations, hundreds of alleged BDP supporters were arrested, including elected mayors and heads of the local chapters of the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democratic Party (Baris ve Demokrasi Partisi - BDP). The local people did not welcome the arrests. According to Cemil Bayik (Spokesman of PKK), the AKP-ordered operations closed all doors and removed all opportunities for Kurdish political participation. In a written statement, the PKK claims: "Our leader, Abdullah Ocalan, is not responsible for the removal of the unilateral ceasefire. The AKP government, which is responsible for the intensification of war and loss of lives, is obscuring the reality through demagogy ... Holding our leader responsible for this process is a conscious distortion. This attempt is the indication of a new process of oppression and pressure on Ocalan." The PKK hopes to introduce a new political model in the Kurdish region, described as "democratic autonomy". Abdullah Ocalan created the model based on the example of Northern Cyprus, where Turkic Cypriots have their own government, parliament, president and other institutions. Cemil Bayik described it as "a model that aims to mobilize the Kurdish people to make their own decisions and have their own governing institutions. It is a model that aims to organize Kurdish people in the political, social, cultural, economic and security areas and solve their own problems through their free will." Bayik thinks that this model will lessen the influence of the Turkish state on the Kurds. What do you think about it? Who do you blame for? AKP or PKK? more

Resolved Question: Formatting the Hard Drive?

I am currently using Windows XP Media Centre. I decided to dual boot the computer and install Ubuntu. In this process, I moved the partitions around, including the 'PQService' which no longer exists. I tried to restore with the 'Recovery DVDs' for which I made when I first got the computer but that just restored XP and left everything else (Ubuntu etc). This came with NO Windows XP Media Centre disc. Is there any other way in which I could restore the computer, including the hard drive layout with the 'PQService' partition, to its factory settings? Thank you more

Resolved Question: Is there a very different attitude to birth in the USA than here in the UK?

I've just been wondering this whilst reading questions on here. In the UK, despite the fact that many women do choose to have their babies in hospital with an epidural etc, a great number of women prefer to choose home birth or birth in a midwife-led birth centre. I had my son in a midwife-led unit - indeed the idea of the highly-medicalised hospital environment was off-putting and a bit scary to me - I would only have gone down that route had there been any problems or complications! Waterbirths, home births and Birth Centres are extremely popular birth choices here (for those with problem-free pregnancies and uncomplicated deliveries of course) . . . It seems to me (although I might be interpreting this wrongly) that in America, childbirth is seen as a very dangerous, "medical procedure", whilst in the UK, and indeed most other European countries its seen as a more nature process . . . Also what is the status of "midwives" in America? In the UK these are very highly trained medical professionals who've completed a 4-year midwifery degree through the Royal College of Midwives and are qualified to do pretty much *everything* when it comes to delivery (other than performing surgery or setting up epidurals etc). They handle the vast majority of deliveries in the UK, even in hospitals - obstetricians usually getting involved only for "problematic"/complicated cases. You can even get Consultant Midwives who are just as qualified as doctors - if not more so in some cases (my consultant midwife is amazing and so knowledgeable and helpful) It seems that in America, however, they are seen as little more than quacks and people seem very disparaging about them, saying they are "unqualified" etc - I'm taking it that the whole system of becoming a midwife in the USA is different? more

Voting Question: read this if you think evolution is right?

The Earth is as much as 70 million years younger than scientists originally believed, according to a new study which claims that it could have taken the planet 100 million years to reach its current size instead of the widely believed 30 million years. Dr. John Rudge, a research fellow at the University of Cambridge's Trinity College, along with an international team of experts, compared geochemical information originally found in the Earth's mantle and compared it to the same material from meteorites from about the same era. According to their findings, which were published in Nature Geoscience, accretion--the Earth's developmental process--slowed considerably once the planet reach 60 percent of its present size. As a result, Dr. Rudge and his associates claim that the formation of the Earth took more than three times as long as previously thought, and as a result, the planet as we know it has been in existence for less time than had been once accepted. "The whole issue hinges on working out how long it took for the core of the Earth to form, which is one of the big unknowns in this area of science," said Dr. Rudge, the co-author of the study, according to the University of Cambridge web site. As a result of their research, Dr. Rudge and his colleagues believe that Earth is approximately 4.467 billion years old. Previously, scientists believed the planet was 4.537 billion years old. "One of the problems has been that scientists usually presume Earth's accretion happened at an exponentially decreasing rate," the Cambridge university fellow added. "We believe that the process may not have been that simple and that it could well have been a much more staggered, stop-start affair." The speed of the accretion is the only issue being tackled by the international team of researchers, who support the longstanding theory that the Earth was originally formed when dozens of smaller planetary bodies (also known as planetary embryos) collided and blended together due to the heat caused by the impact. Some experts believe that the process was completed after a Mars-sized planetary embryo crashed into the forming Earth, causing part of it to break off and form the Moon. "The collisions caused part of the planet to melt, and allow metal to segregate to the centre of the Earth to form the core," Dr. Rudge told BBC News science reporter Victoria Gill on Monday, adding that during the process, "the planet differentiated into its molten metal core and outer-lying mantle." According to a Cambridge University press release, Rudge and his team studied isotopes from various elements that would have undergone radioactive decay during the accretion process. Assuming that certain elements had an affinity for the silicate mantle and others were naturally attracted to metal in the center of the Earth, the scientists created several different, new models that showed how the accretion process could have occurred. "While a wide variety of options emerged, the modeling process showed that the Earth almost certainly could not have formed within 30 million years," the university's Sunday news report claimed. "Instead, the results suggested that the planet initially grew very quickly, reaching two-thirds of its size within about 10 to 40 million years. Accretion then slowed down, however, and took perhaps another 70 million years to complete." The study, which is entitled, "Broad bounds on Earth's accretion and core formation constrained by geochemical models," was published online May 23. Also credited as co-author on the study are Thorsten Kleine and Bernard Bourdon. All three researchers are credited as being members of the Institute of Geochemistry and Petrology, ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland, while Kleine is also credited as representing the Institut für Planetologie, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Münster, Germany. In the abstract of their report, Rudge and his associates write the following: "The Earth formed through the accretion of numerous planetary embryos that were already differentiated into a metallic core and silicate mantle. Prevailing models of Earth’s formation, constrained by the observed abundances of metal-loving siderophile elements in Earth’s mantle, assume full metal--silicate equilibrium, whereby all memory of the planetary embryos’ earlier differentiation is lost." "Using the hafnium--tungsten (Hf–W) and uranium--lead (U–Pb) isotopic dating systems, these models suggest rapid accretion of Earth’s main mass within about 10 million years (Myr) of the formation of the Solar System. Accretion terminated about 30 or 100 Myr after formation of the Solar System, owing to a giant impact that formed the Moon. Here we present geochemical models of Earth’s accretion that preserve some memory of the embryos’ original differentiation." "These dise more

Voting Question: Why should the rich pay really high taxes?

We have two people Person 1 is a hard working, intelligent person. He has worked hard throughout high school and gets good grades to go to University. He completes his undergrad and gets into medical school. He becomes a doctor after 8 years of schooling and several more years of internship and residency. He becomes a practicing neurosurgeon and earns a very good salary in the process because he is in a field that very few can get into. Person 2 is lazy and refuses to work hard. He gets a job that doesn't pay a good salary because he doesn't bother to go to University or any type of post secondary education center. He gets a low paying job. My question is basically asking why should Person 1 who has worked hard there entire life be forced to pay for handouts to Person 2?This won't create economic equality. You cut taxes for every tax bracket with the middle class and small businesses receiving the biggest breaks. My mother works at a city pool and people come in on welfare driving Mercedes. People abuse the system all the time. You can cut spending on other issues. Do you realize how much money the government wastes? It's not even funny. more

Voting Question: I will be getting my induction date tomorrow, I am 40 weeks+. Anything I can do to help the process?

I go to an OBGYN clinic. So I am looking for advice from people who used midwives or birthing centers. My Dr. will probably induce me within the week week and half. Just seeing if there is any natural remedies (I know of a lot...seeing if I am missing any) that may help my cervix ripen, soften, efface (sp?). I know there is a gel they can put on at the office/hospital just seeing if there is anything I am possibly missing. Hoping to avoid a c-section. more

Resolved Question: Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg “we have reached a point where the negative effects of these policies are simply?

too significant to ignore" GE Jeffrey Immelt also reportedly blasted the president’s economic policies during a meeting with executives in Rome. Later a spokesman for GE said the remarks were taken out of context, but people who know Immelt confirm his growing dissatisfaction with the administration’s economic policies. Another Obama supporter, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, has publicly attacked the president. In private meetings he has blasted not just the president’s push for financial reform, which could shave earnings in the banking business anywhere from 5-10%, but also the president’s economic agenda of higher spending and more entitlements like health care. Big business and Wall Street in particular had overwhelmingly supported Democrats in the 2008 election cycle, but data from the Center for Responsive politics show a more even split in donations in 2010, including at Democratic stronghold Goldman Sachs (GS: 136.4, -1.61, -1.17%), a trend that has the White House on edge. Resolved Question: Questions for recovering Windows?

I am currently running Windows XP Media Centre 2005 and I decided to install Ubuntu. In the process, I deleted the 'PQ Service' partition and I would like to get that back. I wanted to completely restore the computer (with partition layout) to its factory settings or reinstall Windows from scratch but I do not have the Disc for Windows XP Media Centre 2005 as it did not come with the computer. Instead had to create some 'Recovery DVDs' for which I created when I got the computer. Is there a way to restore the settings including the partitions on the hard drive or is there a way to obtain a Windows Media Centre Disc only? Also, if i completely format the hard drive to the point for which it is blank, can I use the Recovery DVDs to install onto that? Thank you more

Voting Question: Right-wing female politician = Smart Women?

I heard that women should have some sort of "special trait or kind" in their cerebral system if they want to beat us on every level. Not just some kind of emotional ability or hormone (testosterone) but also 'a shape' in their brain which gives and delivers an ability to defeat (ha ha..) or at least to compete male beings. And then i just found an article in a science magazine that a right-wing conservative margaret thatcher (former british prime minister who was active during the end of cold war) had a "different form" in her left-side (cerebral hemisphere) that mostly only owns by men. So, like we all know that margaret thatcher was one of the most distinguished and highly respectable leader in her era (a key player during the downfall of communism in soviet and domestic recovery in economy,etc..etc) You must have wondered how come that she ( a woman) could have an ability to tackle many difficult issues? Well, she definitely got something special and guess what? you're right, she does. I forgot what is it called but one sure thing : it what make us become more capable of everything (not confined nor limited) and it stores in our brain system , ever since it was the center of all cognitive-process that resulted in our behavior and manner So, aside from a sense that all those brilliant ladies must have a thing in common than doesn't own by most of women, i also just realized that most of them are right-winger. Ok, check this out : Margaret Thatcher (Ex-British PM), Condolezza Rice (Former US secretary of state) , Tzipi Livni (Leader of Kadima Party in Knesset, Israel), Angela Merkel (Current german Chancellor), etc See? None of them are 'liberal' mess who does nothing but ranting. But conservatives who are much more "in the right order", to carry on something which have 'nicely shaped' and been proven to be a successful policy over decades, instead of 'revolutionize' an old formula. And also sometimes they blew me away with their intelligent speech and their approach to face a certain subject. What do u guys think? more

Resolved Question: How can i feel more possitive about a hospital birth? when i really wanted a home birth?

I am due in october & already know i will be giving birth at an alternative birthing center within a hospital, which i consider isnt a true birthing center so that sucks. I hate the thought of hospital births, i truely believe childbirth is a natural process and not a medical one. My partner is concerned about the babys safety & mine as well thats why i am not doing a home birth, & also why i dont plan to have any more kids unless he'd say yes to a home birth... i have nightmares all the time i get really irriated when i think about that day & how it wont be my way. I want to feel excited about the birth & optimistic but really am having a hard time, what can i do? more

Resolved Question: Is it still God's work of you get a gift for doing it?

For example, I donate blood a lot. No rewards or anything. I guess the Blood Center determined I'd be good at donating platelets/plasma, so they offered me some Mets tickets to come in and donate those items. It's an extensive process, and I wouldn't have done it if not for the tickets, which I'd take the kid to a game with. Spiritually speaking, is the act of donating tainted, though, if there's reward? more

Resolved Question: Remember during the Health Care Debate?

the topic of what was really the true intent of the bill was discussed, and we heard comments such as "Death Squads", care would never be rationed, and if you like your current plan and Doctor you could keep them? Those in the White House ( and many others ) said all of the "Negative" comments were simply nonsense and the work of those on the Far Right? What do you now say with the placement of Don Berwick to head up the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services? He is on record ( and video - have you seen it? ) indicating that the only question about rationing care is if we will do it with our eyes open or closed. Wonder who he sees making the decisions as to what will be OK and isn't? In addition, he openly admits health care can ONLY be accomplished with the Redistribution of Wealth. Haven't we heard that praise many times before? So the point needs to be made again, America has approx 300 million living in the country, reports stated approx 80-85% liked their health care and wanted to keep it. The majority still want the bill repealed. So why would any country completely redo a process that's the best in the world ( not perfect, but the best ), that 255 million people liked, and the new health care system does nothing to stem the increase in cost, and we now know will NOT be budget neutral? Why do this? Doesn't common sense indicate something else is going on here? Don't you think, if the true reason for the initiative was to insure those without insurance, we could have come up with a program that accomplished that goal at a MUCH less cost, that America would agree was a good idea? more

Resolved Question: Aren't you glad that 0baama skipped the Senate confirmation process to put a full blown SOCIALIST in charge of?

Medicare and medicaid? Berwick on wealth redistribution http://dailyradar.com/beltwayblips/video/donald-berwick-on-redistributing-wealth/ President Barack Obama used a recess appointment today to name rationing advocate Donald Berwick to become the director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The office oversees government health care programs and that worries pro-life advocates because Berwick has praised British programs that ration care. Berwick is an outspoken admirer of the British National Health Service and its rationing arm, the National Institute for Clinical Effectiveness (NICE). During a 2008 speech to British physicians, Berwick said “I am romantic about the National Health Service. I love it," McConnell criticized Democrats for not holding a confirmation hearing for Berwick and said they were avoiding the tough questions about the pro-abortion health care bill and its rationing components and Berwick's views on them. Recalling that opponents of the government-run health care bill were blasted for bringing up "death panels," Tanner writes: "But if President Obama wanted to keep a lid on that particular controversy, he just selected about the worst possible nominee." He said, "Democrats haven't scheduled so much as a committee hearing for Donald Berwick, but the mere possibility of allowing the American people the opportunity to hear what he intends to do with their healthcare is evidently reason enough for this administration to sneak him through without public scrutiny." Also, pro-life Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming called the move "an insult to the American people" that makes "a mockery of [Obama's] pledge to be accountable and transparent." http://lifenews.com/bio3127.html more
