My contractor has installed the junction box for my new 30" under counter wall oven inside the oven cabinet at the top. The NM cable runs up the inside back of the oven (actually pinched between the oven and cabinet wall) to the junction box he mounted at the top of the oven within the cabinet. All of this is a very tight fit. Is this a proper way to do it? It seems like the reason the oven comes with a flex conduit is that they want to keep the nm cable away from the heat. He is re-using the old oven 5 x 5 inch junction box which was a 50 amp circuit (#6) for this new 30 amp 4 wire circuit (#10). Is such a big box required? moreResolved Question: How do I remove a fluorescent fixture in a drop ceiling and replace with a tile?
I need to replace about 2 dozen 2 ft. x 2 ft. U-bend Fluorescent fixtures in a commercial building with nine 2 ft. x 2 ft. LED panels. The work will be done in a drop ceiling. Regarding the nine retrofitted fixtures, I will re-wire the power so that it connects to the LED ballasts instead of the fluorescent ballast, then I will remove the fluorescent fixture entirely. For the remaining fixtures, I will need to remove the 2 ft. x 2 ft. fixtures and replace them with a ceiling tile. The current wiring is in a metal casing. The power goes from the light switch into the first fixture, then leap frogs from one fixture to the next. My questions are as follows: 1)How do I remove the 2 ft. x 2 ft. fixtures? 2)How do I keep the power connected so that the 9 fixtures that I intended to retrofit will still be able to receive power from the same light switch? 3)During the process of rewiring the connections at each of the previously removed fixtures, what do I need to do to make sure the connections are “up to code”? Are wire nuts and electrical tape sufficient? Though I am not a certified electrician, I am relatively handy. I would normally elect to hire an electrician for a project like this, but I cannot afford the $1,500 or so cost of labor. With that said, how much time do you think it will take, approximately, to remove a 2 ft. x 2 ft. fixture and replace it with a ceiling tile? I really want to become an electrician and I know that before that happens I need to become an apprentice. I am making a oven used to heat PVC pipe so that I can then bend it to a maximum of 90 degree's. For a oven I am modifying a counter top style convection oven by removing oven racks and then cutting holes so than I can slide PVC pipe in. It will also use a variable speed motor to slowly rotate it as it heats. My big question is at what temperature do I need to get the pipe. Both ends of the pipe will be plugged with one end have a pipe fitting that will allow a supply of compressed air to pressurize pipe to keep pipe from collapsing when bending it. The temperature controller goes to 500 degree's F.I want to bend the pipe this way so I can make sweeping bends. The pipe will be used to make soccer goals for small kids. I would rather do it this way instead of using pipe fitting to couple the pipe together. This will eliminate any raised edges that could cause scrapes and scratches to the little kids. moreResolved Question: I am wanting to run an electrical outlet to my patio. We're redoing our basement, and running 1/2" EMT conduit. On every few studs, we have a wall box mounted and the electric-line conduit running out the side and snaking back behind the studs until it reaches the next box, where it is attached on the top side of the box to a 90 degree elbow joint that we got from Menards. The elbow joint is not exactly a gradual bend; it is in fact fairly abrupt. Here's the issue: when we're running steel fish tape, the tape gets through the conduit pretty easily--connector joints, 90 degree bends, etc. It gets stuck, however, at the 90 degree angle of the elbow joint, right above the opening into the box, no matter how hard we push it. We've tried grabbing at it from the box's opening with needlenose pliers, fishing it out with bent pieces of wire, and just brute force, but it won't budge at the bend. We've considered lubricant as well as taking the conduit out of the joint, forcing the fish tape through, and reattaching the conduit to the joint, but while that last measure is effective, it's pretty time consuming and somewhat labor intensive. Is there an easier way to get the fish tape through the sharp bend in the joint? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Can someone give me a summary of mass effect 1?

I have an idea for a book but I need some help from creative minds on a couple ideas. Basically the setting of the story takes place in medieval times but in a world were people can manipulate the elements wind water earth and fire. But I don't know what to call it. For example someone who could manipulate fire would be called 'a fire.....?' I don't want to say fire manipulator. And controlling elements is called manipulation, it sounds lame. I don't want to copy any of the stories about this that's already been out there. So please don't say controlling elements is called bending or fire bending. I don't want to steal, but help wouldn't hurt. Please guys I'm coming up blank, any little thing helps.... 10 points for best answer. I have been told that I need a urostomy (illeal conduit) and wondered if anyone could tell me how painful it will be. It is for medical reasons but not cancer. I wont be able to have any local anaesthetics/epidurals so will be reliant on other methods. Unfortunately I have had cause to learn not to trust the hospital after they refused to give me any painkillers after my leg was amputated due to discrimination against me as a disabled person. That was the worst experience of my life! Can someone tell me - am I facing the same amount of pain as the amputation or will it be less painful i.e. paracetamol will help it? I am finishing my basement using 2x4 stud walls. I was told by our Building Inspector that ALL electrical wiring must be run in Metal Conduit ONLY. Flexible conduit and Romex are not allowed. So my question is, are there any tips or what is the easiest way to run metal conduit through a 2x4 stud wall for outlets and light switches. Is it easier to drill holes, or notch out the 2x4 and install a metal plate? If you drill holes, is it easy to install long lengths of conduit through numerous studs, or do I need shorter lengths? What about turning corners in a 2x4 stud wall where there may be numerous 2x4 studs? The walls are not drywalled, so i have plenty of access. Would it be easier to run the conduit on the ceiling, and then run pipes down to the outlet boxes? Thanks, SteveIn response to cabin, I called and asked the Inspector "So we are not allowed to drill holes through the studs, and pull wire through the studs?" He replied no, I also asked him if this was a code change, for newer construction, and he said no, this code has actually been around since the 80's, or early 90's. Our city, Lockport, IL, he said the code is for ALL Electrical Wires need to be run in metal conduit, whether its in a wall, ceiling, anything. In response to Jeff, no i am finishing the basement, once i put up my 2x4 wall, i will run electrical, mechanical & plumbing. Then insulate, then drywall. The inspector said that ALL electrical needs to run in metal conduit, I'm assuming rigid, because he said no flexible, and no Romex. moreVoting Question: Engine exhaust system leaking?
Ok I have a small 850watt 2 stroke generator. I have put the generator in a old brick shed and have made a exhaust system to vent the fumes. I have welded a 20mm conduit adaptor over the existing pipe on generator and then I have a pipe which is 25mm or 1" that is about 6 meters as it runs out the shed and up the wall to above the roof the pipe has a couple of 90 degree bends but the pipe work is not leaking it seems to be leaking through the alternator or motor.I suspect it could be leaking from the crank case.If it is leaking from there how could it be fixed and I have tried a small 2M pipe and it still leaks from the same place when under a 600watt load moreResolved Question: Electrical HELP FAST PLEASE! running feeders from electrical room to building?

This is what I am quite curious. For all those who know astronomy. We all know that a black hole forms when a dead star or dwarf star starts to collapse on itself. The resultant internal force of the star on itself is so strong that it bends and creates a hole on space time and form a black hole. This black hole will continue to collapse inward till it forms a worm hole similar to Stargate or Asgard. However, why does the wormhole collapse inward to the universe? Why doesn't it collapse outward, away from the universe? moreResolved Question: How to operate an older Imperial Eastman tube bender?

I've been using this white mesh to keep out animals, mainly our dogs. But the squirrels have gotten through and done some minor damage. So this year, i'm going to invest in a 7x100ft. black mesh deer net, which is relatively inexpensive. The mesh is a lot finer, so it will keep out those smaller animals. However, the steaks to hold it up are like 2 dollars a piece! For a plastic skinny steak. So, does anyone know any good alternatives for steaks? I know the skinny electrical conduit that is similar to pvc is like a little over a dollar for 10 feet. So I could get two steaks out of that, for about two dollars. Same with a 2x2 wood. The only thing though is, the grey conduit isn't all that attractive. I could spray paint it, but that seems a little overboard, although probably something I'd do if bored. I don't like using metal, due to it's dangers, and I've bent over before at night and almost got one in the eye. any suggestions? moreResolved Question: how do I bend conduit without kinks?

I need to run some wire that is coming from my attic and into my carport for floodlights. I now know that I need to use some kind of conduit to do this. What kind of conduit is suitable for this? I know there is PVC pipe made for exterior wiring. I have also seen the aluminum. Also, is it ok to use 14-2 NM romex for this application seeing as it will be encased in some kind of weather proof conduit/J boxes? Or do I need to use 14-2 THWN inside the conduit? The other question is, if I go with the PVC can I screw that directly into a metal waterproof box (one of those circular boxes that comes with those exterior flood light kits at the big box home improvement stores)? Ok last question, where the wire comes out of the attic and into the carport does there need to be a junction box there (assuming I don't have to splice the 14-2 NM to 14-2 THWN)? Or can I run the pipe right to the hole and caulk around it? Sorry if this is confusing. I just want to do this right and do it one time! Thanks!!!!!I should be more clear obviously. The wire is going to be run about 20 feet from where the wire originally pops out of the attic. So I was wondering what the easiest and least expensive way to do this is. I need to know what type of 14-2 romex to use. It is being run inside of a carport (open to the weather on 3 sides of the carport). Where the wire pops out of the attic, does there need to be a box there (if I NEED to use TWHN then obviously yes) or can I run the conduit right to the hole?
