If society encouraged unhappy folk to commit legalized assisted suicide on demand, wouldn't all alive be happy A lot of people hate the society and world they are born into. But society says nothing will ever change because of human nature. So lets accept that libertarian free will etc. Its a crime that we have a society that makes people want to commit suicide, but then we put barriers towards carrying out leading 80% of suicides to fail! In urban areas it is hard to legally acquire guns and even if you go out-of-state, with no handgun experience the chance of failure is high. The only other option is jumping on train tracks which has a uncertain outcome. Failed suicides lead to serious injuries and one only gets one chance. There is much about this current society that certain people might object to and not want to live in. But the worst criticism is that it does not provide easy access to suicide. Run the world how you want, but at least let those who don't like it to leave, don't make the world a prison. So why not legalize assisted suicide on demand, not just for the ill but for all adults. A reasonable waiting period of 1-year would prevent impulsive decisions. Legalized suicide could either be carried out by the state, after all if murders have the right to execution why not law-abiding citizens? Or carried out by regulated private enterprises. The only risk is that this could be used for murder. But far less risk than with guns or toxics that are now legal. And with the paper-trail and waiting period this would be the stupidest way to murder someone. Isn't his all that is needed for utopia? Just de-stigmatize and availibilize suicide and all left alive will be by definition those who think their lives are worth living. Yeah some people might make the wrong choice. But we americans LOVE individualism and personal choice and responsibility so much, so we have to let people make bad choices and suffer the consequences. Thats the price of freedom. Especially where it does not harm anyone. Emotional harm? A boss firing you emotionally harms you, as do plenty of other legal activities. So lets say we have Futurama suicide booths. Whats the end result? Anyone unhappy does not have to live, and all those alive at least subjectively believe themselves to be happy. more

But as someone who has done a great deal of research, I can say there really is no fool-proof method that is easily accessible to the average man. Even high-probability methods are risky since great damage is done if u fail and you don't get a 2nd chance. So while it is true suicide being illegal has no effect on successful suicides, it does prevent the suicidal from easily accessing a fool-proof method. IF suicide was legal, then maybe there could be public or regulated private institutions that gave people suicide on demand, maybe after a 1 year waiting period. Like the Futurama suicide booths. There is a lot I don't like about this society. The highest duty as a male is inflict pain of females and lesser males in the made drive for sexual pleasure which is the only command of the selfish-gene. That is the ethos of modern society, dominate and abuse others for the sake of sex. I don't mean to attack the values of this society. All I'm asking is that people who don't like it be given a peaceful, easy, painless means of exit. After all murders are entitled to state-execution, why not suicidal law-abiding citizens? Are you going to tell them, go murder first? The world that remained would be in a real sense a utopia. Only those who believe their current lives are worth living would be preserved. Suicide would not be seen as a tragedy but as a rational decision. And all those unhappy with our society would be peacefully voluntarily eliminated creating a high degree of social stability. more

It's bad enough that NBC has to screw up their whole schedule on Thursdays to have that crappy new show at 8:30 and show Parks and Recreation at 10:30, and I wanted to see a The Office and Parks and Recreation I never saw before because of Flash Forward and Fringe, but when I check Zap2it to see when Futurama will be on again they said it would be on again at 12:30 and the second one would be on at 1:00. But when I turned to Comedy Central at 12:30, instead of seeing the beginning of the first one, I see the end of it, and the second one is on at 12:30, because the first one was really on at 12:00! Resolved Question: Why is American Dad, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show still on TV?

These three shows which were produced by Seth McFarlane are awful, American Dad is basically the same as Family Guy, and The Cleveland Show, lets say it's the Black version of Family Guy (with no intention of offending anyone). Really, when is FOX going to take this crap of TV and put back great shows like Futurama? The Simpsons has been running for lots of years but still is a solid show not junk like AD, FG or TCS.
